LOL - Tucker Carlson to video store clerk/blogger: I WILL @#!!@# DESTROY YOU
It all started with a simple video rental. Who knows where it will end?

Potomac Video store clerk Charles Williamson, 28, posted a message on his blog, Freelance Genius, Dec. 23 that described how he set up a movie rental account for MSNBC host Tucker Carlson at the MacArthur Boulevard store the day before.

"I could tell you what he and his ridiculously wasped-out female companion (wife?) rented if you really want to know," he wrote. "I won't tell you where he lives, though. That would be wrong and stupid." Williamson also joked that he wouldn't send 10,000 copies of Jon Stewart's best-selling political satire, "America (The Book)," to Carlson's home; Stewart ridiculed Carlson on "Crossfire" before the 2004 election.

A week later, Williamson had forgotten all about it, he told us yesterday. That is, until Carlson, 37, reappeared at the video store and, said Williamson, "got pretty aggressive." According to Williamson, Carlson confronted him about the blog and said he viewed the post as a threat to him and his wife. "He said, 'If you keep this up, I will destroy you,' " Williamson recalled.

Williamson said he agreed to remove the blog post and did so later that night: "All I remember thinking was I was worried about what this guy was going to do." He consulted a lawyer friend and was told he had probably not broken any laws. "What I said was pretty juvenile, I'll admit," he said.

Must be something you have to do to prove your machomanliness. Better than joining the service, huh? The thought of Carlson fighting (I know he said 'destroy' which could cover many things) is a real chuckle. He'd have to hire it done.

5. Tucker and the other neocon assholes remind me of the nazi's
lower on the totem pole...so full of themselves, so arrogant, so bloated in the belieef that they were of better stock then oridinary citizens...

Well those henchmen were the ones who paid a heavy price...

Tucker and others like him...their 6 year glory days are over...the shoe will fall eventually..

though I wouldn't have handled it as he did. I would have yanked my membership and told the boss exactly why I did.

Tucker is a dick, but threatening to post someone's video rentals is an invasion of privacy. I'd have been seriously pissed.

15. Here's the life-threatening blog entry that started it all...
"Tucker Carlson opened an account last night at my video store. I thought the name seemed familiar but I couldn't figure out why. It was after he left that I realized he was on the list of Gigantic Cobagz. I could tell you what he and his ridiculously wasped-out female companion (wife?) rented if you really want to know. I won't tell you where he lives, though. That would be wrong and stupid. I will also not be running around ordering 10,000 copies of America: The Book and having it sent to his place even if that would be more awesome than frozen urine treats for his home."

If I were Tucker Carlson, I'd be pissing myself with fear too.

:eyes:

Get a grip.

45. I didn't say afraid I said irate
that is a big difference. Just like everyone else, Carlson deserves to be treated with respect by the people who provide him services. I would be irate if I went to a store, rented a film, and then found out that the person who served me insulted my husband or boyfriend and wanted to post the movies I rent. You might want to learn to read before you respond to posters.

Edited on Sun Jan-14-07 02:05 PM by dsc
If I were Tucker Carlson, I'd be pissing myself with fear too.

Now I don't know about you, but the last time I checked people who pissed themselves with fear were afraid. Maybe words mean a different thing to those with the obviously superior intellect that you have, but in the English this lowly peon speaks people who are afraid experience fear. And yes, I mean to be every bit as much a smart ass as I am being in this post after you called me a name.

51. Two things: I misread you title and I apologize...
I read it as "I didn't say (I'd be) afraid I said irate" meaning you personally. I rushed to respond because I was already in a foul mood yesterday. Just like it's a bad idea to drive while angry, so to is it to type.

Secondly, Little Tucker DID say he was afraid. You needlessly made this exchange about you. So you rushed to respond too, it seems.

7. Williamson was fired over this.

And what's this about?

"He implied he was going to come and do something to my house," Carlson said. "I've got four kids at home and I've had serious problems with stalkers twice. . . . This guy is threatening to come to my house and I'm on the road all the time. What would you do? This guy is threatening my family."

I don't see where any threat was issued. Williamson said he would NOT SEND Jon Stewart books to Tucker's house. How is that the same as what Tucker says?

48. As much as I hate to side with Tucker in even the remotest way...
...when you've been a victim of stalking before, even clear "non-theats" like this one end up looking like threats. The FEAR of another stalker really clouds out all rational thoughts when faced with a situation like this. If Tucker had never been stalked before, this clerk saying "I WON'T do something to his house" wouldn't have raised an eyebrow. But because Tucker's already living in fear, "I WON'T do something" becomes "I just might do something" in his mind.

I've got no love for Tucker, but I understand how this could freak him out...even tho it looks like nothing to rational-thinking people outside of the situation.

What was Carlson supposed to do, just laugh it off?

If the blogger had done the same to, say, Al Franken, I think we'd see a lot of DU support for any threats Al might have made.

13. How is what he wrote
that much different than the gossip pages like the Gawker (I think that is the name) which reports sightings of celebrities in Manhattan. They told, for example, that Sam Waterston got a sample of Stinking Bishop, a kind of cheese, at Whole Foods, and then bought some of it to take home. I think there was even some sort of joke about it after the information. I never saw Sam getting all huffy about it--isn't that the price of celebrity?

19. Carlson lied big time.

In a phone interview Thursday, Carlson acknowledged that he approached Williamson in the store and said he was "very aggressive" because he wanted the post removed: "I don't like to call the police or call his boss. . . . I'm a libertarian. I'm not into that."

On Monday, Williamson said, his Potomac Video manager called and fired him. Williamson said he was told the company was threatened with legal action "and the owner doesn't like that." He re-posted the original Carlson item later that day. Williamson said he later learned that a man who identified himself as a lawyer for Carlson had been in the store and asked Potomac Video employees questions about him.

20. We got in an argument with Carlson at a "Crossfire" commercial break
a few years back. I started off by asking him why he was so afraid of Al Gore. The argument was over Steno Sue's (Washington Post reporter,) political affiliation. Carlson visibly fumed long after I'd made my comments.

Tucker, if you're reading, you still owe us $20.
