Our counter to Lieberman is moderate GOP

this is the beauty. The main area where Lieberman sees some influence is in supporting the war. If he were to vote with GOP on domestic issues, he would further seal his fate in 6 years. No way he'd win a senate seat in Connecticut.

However, the things I'm seeing from senate members' statements hearten me. There are far too many moderate GOP up for reelection in 08 and they will find themselves aligning with Dem leadership in opposing BUsh's military adventure or any planned future ones.

1. The Lincoln Chafee wing of the Republican Party is pretty weak

It'll need to be revived if it could be used to counter Lieberman.

I doubt you would even need two hands to count the number of Moderate Repugs in the COngress. In fact, they have a hard road to hoe. They are called "Rhinos.' They will be challenged by Grover Norquists special interest libertarian money. They must sign a no tax pledge to not be subjected to harrassment by these special interest groups. Few Moderates have the guts to take on Norquists' intimidation.
