Donating To Sheehan Takes $$$ Away From Other Candidates!
Who can actually win. I know that I'm going to take a lot of heat for this, but I feel that donating to Cindy is a lost cause and will pull money away from other candidates who actually have a chance at winning. I like Cindy Sheehan a helluva lot, and appreciate how she's put her beliefs into action. But I think that donating precious dollars to Sheehan's longshot that could go to the PA Senate race, the CA Gubernatorial Race, the OH Senate race, and others is foolish and makes no sense whatsoever.

I just think about the what, 2k activists on here that will essentially throw their money away on a unwinnable race between 2 Democrats! That money could help put Paul Hackett in the US Senate, boot Arnold from the CA Govenor's Mansion, and knock Rick Santorum out of office! I know I had previously mentioned those races, but geez! I'm certainly no Feinstein fan, but let's kill our own here and become the Republicans' best friend.

Cindy has about a good of a chance of defeating Feinstein in the Dem primary as I do, and I live in Alabama-- making me uneligible to run. Folks, she has no chance. Sorry.

P.S. Each donation made to "Sheehan for Senate" puts a smile on the face of Ken Mehlman, Karl Rove, and other GOP operatives. Nothing would make their day like a donation made to Cindy's unwinnable challenge vs Feinstein.

3. People need to vote and spend their money as they see fit.
You mention Hackett... Yet there have been threads here on DU saying support for Hackett robs the "candidate who can win", Brown.

People need to feel passionately about their candidates if the Democratic Party is to survive.

When somebody else earns it for me then they can tell me how to spend it.

9. Why?
Seems that the GD in the past 20 hours should have been called GD: KISS SHEEHAN'S ASS AND SAY THANKYOU

That it is impossible to read any other posts that are, indeed, GD.

I am grateful for the few who decide not to follow the freepers mode of always admiring the same person and express their opinion.

6. She has no chance but
This is about putting pressure on already-elected Dems. If Mehlman, Rove et al get a chuckle out of it, let them. Their time is coming.

they both had their reasons with no actual goal of winning

And it it doesn't take any time away from any other candidates whatsoever; money perhaps, but it is all good. Why you got to be a playa hata?

12. That's sort of the point in running, isn't it?
You don't win elections, you buy them by outspending your opponent. Unless of course you figure out a way to just cheat. If Cindy is going to run, then she had better run to win and that means taking money away from Diane Feinstein. That's politics.

18. I thought I read she's thinking of running as a Green party candidate
and I'm sorry, if that meant taking enough votes away from Feinstein to let a repuke win a senatorial seat...would she become the new Nader?

oh god...I'm going to get in trouble for this one!

Bring it on!

Any details or is this just a general "I won't support her if she decides to run" rant?

21. Not saying I won't "support" her
I'm still 18 and although I can vote now, I'm still in high school.

I really like Cindy, I just don't think she can defeat Goliath... DiFi.

22. Well, if she runs, then this is what the primaries are all about
Geez, really. This is what democracy looks like friend, get used to it.

And besides, while DiFi is the old guard, Cindy has name recognition, and the higher moral ground. That will resonate with a lot of people, if she indeed does run.

Let's see if she runs first.

24. so put your money where you want to.. who is forcing you to do other wise?
your argument is just plain silly.

may as well go to Las Vegas and let people know they should be putting thier money towards their community instead of giving it away to the mob.

maybe that's a bad analogy. but if you're trying to reason by guilt tripping it's just not going to work, indeed in this case it's silly.

Cindy Sheehan can't hold a candle stick to all the wealth and power that DiFi has with or without the $ support from the party.

And furthermore, i would argue that contributing to Cindy's possible campaign (doesn't exist at this point in time does it?) helps give VOICE on behalf of the progressive community, even if it is to give a reality check to DiFi's future Senatorial decision making process.

Without the Cindy Sheehan's in the world, we would have no voice in the party at all.

26. Is She Seriously Running?
I don't care if people donate to her, but I'm surprised she'd actually run. She should maybe try something state level first. I support her in most that she does, but wouldn't in a million years right now think she's ready for the senate. I agree with you, that money would be well spent elsewhere. But people can make that decision for themselves however they like. Any other viable candidate should have enough funding from their own campaign to make do if they were good enough. If they are strong enough to win, they should also be strong enough to gather enough financial support to run the campaign regardless of how much money people donate to Cindy.

27. Then don' t donate to Cindy. I will certainly do so.
I live in California and I want Cindy to challenge Dianne. I get to vote here and donate to Cindy.

You folks need to start electing Democrats there in Alabama before you get yourselves worried about who we vote for out here, don't you think?

28. It's my money
and it's nobody's business who I choose to donate to. Feinstein's got enough money. See that mansion she just bought IN San Francisco? Can YOU live there? Me neither. Screw her. Like she need my money AND her ill-gotten war profits.
