Ford soon to be pushed into 3rd place by Toyota; why? GAYS!
..Current ongoing disucssion in MSNBC about FoMoCo losing the 2nd place sales status they've had for some 80 years. This stuff used to be funny.. anymore its scary/pathetic.

According to one poster:

"Ford needs to reconsider their stand on the gay/homosexual issue. Their support and pushing of thie movement has caused a wide spread boycott by conservatives. If they want to change their focus and start again supporting true American family values as the family was intended to be, their future would be much brighter. I for one have always wanted a Mercury - but I will not buy one with their current support and empowering of the homosexual movement."

And another one chimes in with:

...."than again, once upon a time we've had a freedom of speech and schools that thought solid values. And it was OK to say: "Merry Christmas.. Too bad society is in the denial of an unfolding pandemic. Than again, democracy as defined by founding fathers, was meant for smart and religous people."

1. LOL. I LOVE this line.
"I for one have always wanted a Mercury - but I will not buy one with their current support and empowering of the homosexual movement."

Codespeak for I have always wanted a Mercury, but playing on the computer in mom's basement doesn't pay well, so I can't afford it, so I'll blame it on gays.

3. It's absolutely frightening that people can be this spiteful and
petty and yet think that they are decent human beings. They forget that they were warned very clearly 'judge not lest ye be judged'.

Apparently they only pay attention to the parts that they like.

4. BULL.................. SHIT
That poster would not buy a Ford brand if it was free. That's bullshit. Probably a case of someone who sees it there mission in life to blanket the internet with anti-gay posts. Or Netvocates type PAID posters.

They can blame the gays, the unions, the Japanese......whoever. But anyone with more than 2 functioning brain cells knows that ALL Ford's problems are a direct result of the Ford Family itself making the decision to abandon it's entire line of cars and concentrate on SUV's and trucks.

When Ford finally goes belly up thousands of Ford retirees will get "screwn" and the Ford family will legally walk away with Billions upon billions upon billions.

6. Toyota is GLBT friendly
And has scored a 90 (out of 100) on the HRC Equality Index this year. And they target advertising to GLBT markets.
Sorry, 'ya gotta come up with something better than blaming it on the gays this time.

7. as a lesbian
I wouldn't buy a Ford if you paid me and gave me the car for free

it has nothing to do with politics - it has to do with quality and reliability
(among other things)

I've owned 3 ford's in my life. They were not owned consecutively, but rather after owning something else for a few years and willing to give Ford "another chance"...

ennywhoo - they leak oil like crazy, plug one leak and two more pop up. the electronic gizmos for this and that go on the fritz at the drop of a hat.

In my book FORD stands for:

Fix Or Repair Daily
Found On Road Dead

and backwards it stands for Driver Returns On Foot

After the Ford truck we currently own dies for good, my partner and I will NEVER own another one. It's been nothing but trouble from day one.

11. Those damnable gays and their agenda
They want constitutional liberties like "normal" people. They want to be free. What do they think this is the land of the free?

I won't ever own a Ford but it has nothing to do with someone else's sex life. On the other hand if some radical christian cleric starts endorsing another car brand, that company will be on my shit list for good; because the only way that would happen is if the company's hieracrchy started hating just like the "christians."

That is enough for me to not buy their product. Plus, the last ford I bought (years ago) was a lemon.

16. What happened? Gays quit buying Fords?
Okay, let me get this straight (pun not intended)...Ford supports the Homosexual Agenda, whatever in hell that is, so Good Christian Men And Women cannot buy Fords.

OTOH, Homosexual Agenda people don't buy Fords because they're enormous gas guzzlers with the pesky and annoying habit of breaking down unexpectedly.

Which explains why Toyota has shot past Ford--gay people are buying lotsa Toyotas now.

You listen to some of these Anti Gay people, you'd think they delivered Fords with a CD of Barbra Streisand's Greatest Hits in the stereo.

17. I work in the automotive supplier biz
Edited on Thu Dec-21-06 03:52 PM by Holly_Hobby
The reason our big 3 have been going down the tubes is because:

1. They didn't listen to the Japanese auto companies years ago. The Japanese invited them, they went, but dismissed their ideas. So Japan sent cars here at a loss and developed a customer base, then slowly raised prices to make profits. They took a loss to get a toe hold. They made very well built, quality cars at a reasonable price.

2. Now that the foreign automotive manufacturers have a spot in the top, the American automakers didn't reduce their capacity until recently. Capacity costs cash. We have several defunct shopping malls here that are FULL of new Chrysler products year-round. I'm sure they don't use the mall's lots for free. Stop making cars you can't sell!

The idea that they're going broke is wrong. They just don't make enough money to keep Wall Street happy. At lease that's what industry consultants tell me. Although, the big 3 LOVE to blame labor and healthcare costs.

18. ford
Its unfortunate that Ford has fallen on hard times. If they really want to tap into the gay market, they should build more fuel efficient cars like toyota.

They could also change their marketing plan and be super-American, like the Chevy commercials. But wasn't Henry Ford a nazi-sympathiser? Maybe its good that they're number 3.

20. Ford's quality has gone-down, Toyota's has gone up
I support GLBT-friendly businesses when I can. They avoid them. But the fact is, most people don't care one way or another, and we probably cancel each other out. I sincerely doubt their little boycott had anything to do with it.

10 miles a gallon or 35? Let me think....
Does it make me less manly because I want to save gas, the environment, and money?

22. Focus or Sequoia?
They both make better and worse vehicles as far as environmental issues go.

My last three cars have been Fords and my new one is a Toyota, because I am playing the odds and I want a car that it less likely to break down.

24. Trucks are nice to have around to haul stuff, etc.
But they shouldn't be people's main vehicles. I drive a 38 mpg older Nissan Sentra to work and around town. The vehicles that drive me bats%$t crazy are the Navigators and Yukons. They get even worse gas mileage than a Hummer H3. People don't need that much vehicle for regular driving.:eyes:
