It's beginning to look a lot like....Easter?
Here in metro Detroit, where there's usually at least a couple of inches of snow on the ground by Christmas, the temperature was in the mid-50s yesterday, and it looks like we'll celebrate Xmas sans-snow. While I love not having to scrape off my car or trudge through slush, looking at the big picture, this isn't a good thing.
Is it abnormally balmy where you are, DUers? :hi:

1. I'm in central VA, and it was 70 today...
It doesn't snow every year, but it's always at least felt like December.

Global Warming is still just a hoax, I tells ya....

I love my state, but Iowa can be a bit boring without some pretty drifts and frosted pines.

7. Not here - I saw snow falling over parts of San Diego County this evening
It was thorougly melted by the time it hit the ground in La Jolla, but the clouds are wintry today and it is pretty cool.

8. Here in Minneapolis it has been pretty much in the 40s during the day.
It gets below freezing at night, but it's unusually warm during the day and there hasn't been any snow worth mentioning.

It's usually colder than a well-digger's arse right about now; we'd always brag that the godawful cold weather kept out the lightweights -- only tough people can make it in Minnesota. But this year I haven't even zipped the lining into my coat or had to wear a hat. Some mornings I have to scrape a bit of frost off my windshield, but that's as bad as it's been. I kinda like not freezing my fanny, but it just isn't normal.

9. I saw a story on BBC News last week about a ski resort in Austria
That has NO snow. It' hasn't snowed and it's too warm to even use snow machine. Sheep are grazing where the slopes would be.

10. I am very confused...
here in Mass. I've worn my winter coat once, and haven't worn my boots at all. It hovers in the low 50's for the most part with one day dips. It is freaky. Waiting for winter... reminds me of waiting for my period. I don't really want it, but I'll feel better once it's here.

13. 30 degrees all week long here in Denver
But, as long as it's 30, I can jog in my thermals and not worry about my coat and hat.I have no idea how low I can go with the temp. I will have to see.

17. Just checked my forecast here in western NY
Going to have a little taste of winter tomorrow...highs only in the upper 30's --- then we rebound back into the 40's and 50's for the next 7-10 days.

This is NOT normal. We usually have the Lake Erie and Lake Ontario snow machines turned on by now. The only snow we've seen was a freak snowstorm on October 13th.

Dogs are shedding, buds on the rose bushes, little baby leaves popping out on the lilac bushes, and tulips up about 1/2".

I hate the cold....and have enjoyed not dealing with the slush, icy roads, scraping, and brushing off snow, but this is not right.

18. I do believe it may be an El Nino year
but I don't recall El Nino making the kind of weather patterns we are seeing right now. It has been unusually warm. My stepdad grilled out on the porch last night, mmm.. good pork steaks, anyways I digress.
I like the warm and not having to deal with the snow, but I am wondering if we are going to get hit in January and maybe up until March?

20. I made a comment like that to a friend yesterday...
If I wanted this cold, I would have stayed in Colorado! It was frigid and frost was still on the ground at 10am.

Other than this cold snap the last few days, it's been very mild. Roses are budding... and you can even see some of the trees swelling.

Altogether not normal, but I've been told by native Oregonians that the last 10 years haven't been quite normal.

21. Tee shirts and short in the daytime in North Alabama...
Sweatshirt at night and long pants at dark outside.

Two weeks ago, though, it was 12F and my water froze at night!

The trees are bare, but the undergrowth which had been bare is getting lush again in the woods here. Alas, it will be mere 65 or so tomorrow and drizzle...

Saw 3 cars with the tops down in one parking lot area today alone...

It should be like 45 to 50 and below freezing at night here...drizzly and maybe even a pinch of snow.
