US Army might break Goodyear strike
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/16226231/

The US Army is considering measures to force striking workers back to their jobs at a Goodyear Tire & Rubber plant in Kansas in the face of a looming shortage of tyres for Humvee trucks and other military equipment used in Iraq and Afghanistan.

1. One day
the US people will live to regret the absolute faith they place in their military.

7. But, but ... it's "professional" and "all-volunteer" so it MUST be better.
:eyes:

No ... it's not the same military that I served in, either. I sure didn't 'enjoy' my time in the military (I'm just not cut out for it), but it was better than what I've seen in the last 20 years, and especially the last five years.

4. It wouldn't be the first time military force was used against strikers
It happened many times in the west, in Colorado and Idaho, against miners. At the beginning of the 20th century.

9. That's oddly reassuring
Especially in that this Goodyear case isn't setting a precedent.

8. Isn't there something unconstitutional about this?
I thought the courts ruled Truman cannot do it.

The military cannot be used in domestic disputes, I thought.
