http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z6caCs5i6Dg

I don't want Democrats to criticize the administration in a civil tone of voice. I want Democrats to show me that they are just as outraged about what this administration has done as I am. I want them to do what I would do if I had access to the media which is grab a microphone and scream at the top of my lungs that I am so sick and fucking tired of what has been going on for the past 6 years.

I'm not even a Gore supporter (I have no candidate preference at this point) but the fact that he has shown anger which is nothing more than a normal human emotion has made me seriously consider him.

I'm ANGRY god damnit and I certainly hope that the Democrats who are running for President are angry as well. If not they either haven't been paying attention or just don't give a shit.

2. Is that the speech where he pretty much shouts that Bush has
destroyed our Constitution. Where he says his father served and he served and he's never seen anything like what Bush has done or what congress has allowed him to do? (paraphrase).

I have that one on tape and I'm saving it forever. It blew me away with it's power and riteous anger. I don't know if any candidate who might run for '08 would ever dare to say what he said.

4. I'm with you, this is what I want to see
It is the benchmark which I will use to decide among the Demorcratic party candidates.
If no one else comes up to this standard of outrage and can speak it - then I must write in Al Gore
and hope to re-elect him.

5. I remember watching it in real time as it happened
and was on the edge of my seat each moment watching these parts of it on this clip.

President Gore, kicking ass and taking names. How I hope to be able to vote for him again!

8. I'm pro- Gore but I don't think he's at his best...
when he's doing the stem-winding, fist-shaking bit.

What the war architects and their supporters in Congress have done is an *un-speakable* outrage but I don't think the rabble rouser-style wears well in US politics at the presidential level.

Howard Dean ( he was right too)screamed himself out pretty quick.

Reagan, though he telegraphed ( and thereby tapped into) anger, also had a genial, charming, self-deprecating flip side. Gore is actually capable of this also. Bush's appeal (?!) appears to be that he didn't feel strongly about *anything*. Clinton had few if any deeply-held beliefs about which he was passionate.

These guys win elections. What they have in common, seems to me , is emotional aloofness.

I'm saying Gore should be careful with the "honest emotion" stuff. It doesn't seem attractive at the presidential level.

11. In general I agree with you...
But in his speeches from this past six years where he has criticized the most heinous policies of the Decider, he is doing more than criticizing - he is speaking as the conscience of us all, as a nation. To have given those speeches without the fire would have made him look as if he was pandering to us, and would have seemed fake.

18. I'm not saying that he should always be like this and Dean's scream isn't comparable to this
Edited on Tue Dec-12-06 09:46 PM by Hippo_Tron
Dean's scream, although I admit was shamefully overplayed in the media, was an absurd gesture because it made him look like he extremely was excited for getting third place in a caucus where he was supposed to win.

Dean's rhetoric before the Iowa Caucus is far more comparable to Gore's anger.

I'm not saying they should be like this all of the time, especially once the General Election starts. But in the primaries, candidates are supposed to appeal to be appealing to a group of people who believe that Bush has committed unspeakable atrocities. Yet it seems like instead of doing this our candidates are grooming themselves for a general election before even winning the nomination.

They can be as polite as necessary once they win the nomination. If they want my support in the primaries I want them to share my anger.

12. ITA! Look what Keith Olbermann's commentaries have done for his ratings.
We've had enough & we're not going to take it anymore. At this point, I'm not settling for those politicians who want to appeal to the broadest base; it's time to tell the ugly truth, to call a duck a duck. I need to hear someone acknowledge what's been going on, that it's wrong, & that it won't happen on their watch.

14. Ya wanna see a Gore speech?!
I think one of the greatest speeches of many decades is here. http://www.acslaw.org/node/2096

"On Monday, January 16, 2006, an audience of over 3,000 people visited DAR Constitution Hall in Washington, DC to hear a powerful speech by former Vice President Al Gore entitled "Restoring the Rule of Law." The event was co-sponsored by ACS and The Liberty Coalition, and broadcast live by C-SPAN."

It is about our Constitution and our country.

It is long. He speaks without notes. It is and education. I hope it will be watched, as a speech like this only comes around once per decade/generation.

16. Boy... Did America Ever Get Screwed????
I have so much respect for Gore and my heart hurts when I think back to the year 2000! I vividly remember running outside of my house when they called the state of Florida FOR Gore, BEFORE it was called for THE IDIOT!

Living in the heart of Cruella Land, I was overwhelmed with joy and happiness and THEN, AND THEN... we got THE WORST PRESIDENT IN THE WORLD!!!

GORE/EDWARDS.... That's a hard one for me because I have so much respect for John & Elizabeth Edwards too. But, if Gore would run, I would have to give him top banana, and then we could position John Edwards for 8 more years!!!

I dislike this little Hitler so much I won't even buy "beans" with his name on the can!!! The DECIDER, needs someone to make a DECISION to get RID of him and the fat ass with the gun!!
