And make no mistake, they're pissed because Webb is making them look like wussies.

14. Right. Because
Sen. Leahy, for example is such a wuss. Why, goddamnit didn't he smack Cheney, or at least returned the complement? Forget that he's been consistently tough against repubs. Forget that he's fought the good liberal fight in the Senate for 32 years. Forget Kennedy, Harkin, Feingold and many more. Heck, they're just wusses.

Yep, DU's got a new crush.

People may forget that top Democratic leaders got death at their doors. I can't claim that I would be braver than Leahy after that kind of mail.

And, oh yeah - the same group who attacked Denan's 50 state strategy because it showed their decade of targetted state strategy was HAMPERING the national party.

2. I hope Jim Webb is the future for the Democratic Party.
We don't need a bunch of suck ups like Lieberman and Daschle! We need to people who will kick ass as much as Karl Rove used to do back in the day.

7. Didn't some GOP congressman talk about assassinating Clinton?
I remember reading it on this board awhile back, that he called into some RW talk-show in Kansas, and said something about assassinating Clinton.

Those RW types, they sure have a sense of humor, don't they?

He was the Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee at the time, so his opinions were more likely to get relayed to the world than those of the average member of Congress. What a lovely message to send the world!

23. He didn't "threaten" to punch him, he said he felt like punching him.
http://thehill.com/thehill/export/TheHill/News/UndertheDome/112906.html

At a private reception held at the White House with newly elected lawmakers shortly after the election, Bush asked Webb how his son, a Marine lance corporal serving in Iraq, was doing.

Webb responded that he really wanted to see his son brought back home, said a person who heard about the exchange from Webb.

“I didn’t ask you that, I asked how he’s doing,” Bush retorted, according to the source.

Webb confessed that he was so angered by this that he was tempted to slug the commander-in-chief, reported the source, but of course didn’t. It’s safe to say, however, that Bush and Webb won’t be taking any overseas trips together anytime soon.

37. You know, I understand why he doesn't like Bush, but I'm peeved too
Seriously, part of his success was the downfall of his opponent, incumbant George Allen who at one point had his security people stronghold a reporter.

I think Jim Webb could have handled that situation in a much better manner with the 'punch out the lights' comment. That was just not classy.

But I still adore Jim Webb, I appreciate the fact that his kid's life is at stake

40. Knowing Randi and Rachel, my guess is her source was herself
They are suckups to the "liberal on social issues ONLY" metro intellectual Dems who got us into this mess. At least Ed Schultz has the guts to admit he owes a lot to Hillary Clinton and willing to disagree with her by name nonetheless. Rachel was sucking up to Vilsack ("my candidate for President") the other day. You can imagine what Vilsack thought about Webb's tough demeanor towards Bush.

43. Seriously...
...IF it's true, they need someone to shake them by the shoulders until they come to their senses.

This group seems to be so used to being beaten about the head and shoulders by all of the Beltway punditry every time someone looks sideways, they're scared of their own shadows.

Bush asked a question, possibly intended to needle Webb. Webb responded reasonably, but he went a little off the script that Bush had in his head and Bush snipped at him in his usual ridiculous fashion. Webb admitted later that he'd felt like punching l'il Pissypants' lights out. Then, all of the pundits jumped in (George Will comes to mind), twisting the events and acting like Webb was the one who has a behavior problem.

So here's a thought, Dems: the right at least know how to stick up for one another. How about we try it once in awhile?
