Remember that GOP investigated Socks, but says that investigations of Bush will tear country apart
Edited on Sat Nov-18-06 11:09 AM by ck4829
1995: Rep. Dan Burton (R-IN), then chair of the House Government Reform and Oversight Committee, investigated whether taxpayers were footing the cost of stationery and postage for the fan club dedicated to President Clinton's cat, Socks. (They were not - and it turns out Barbara Bush's dog Millie had a fan club too.)

2005: Two weeks ago, President Bush admitted he willfully flouted a law that requires him to get warrants before wiretapping U.S. citizens. His justification for ignoring the law appears to be nobless oblige. In reaction, Republicans in charge of the Senate Judiciary Committee announced on Friday that they are planning 'oversight' hearings into the matter.

1. If they whitewash this (again)...
It will prove the constitution and the concept of a democratic America is already dead and the facists we didn't kill in WWII have succeeded. We need real investigations, real oversight, real rule of law and true patriotism.

3. The republicans tore the country apart. Investigations are necessary for justice.
The level of their squirming simply proves how guilty they are feeling.

4. I knew Socks, and it tore him apart. He had to move out of the WH.
What a nightmare that was for him.

5. Oh really?
In a country that has the death penalty. In a country where you can often hear phrases like "Put a boot in your ass" and "nuke them back to the stone age". In a country where so many thrive on vengeance and getting closure by payback. They think we will fall apart when the very people who screwed up our country and our lives get taken down for their deeds? Riiight.
