Happy Anniversary to Lady Bird Johnson

72 years ago today Claudia Alta Taylor married Lyndon Baines Johnson.

Much has been said recently about Gerald Ford being the oldest living President without mention being given that Lady Bird is also the oldest living First Lady - and she was a good one with her early interest in environmentalism and Head Start.

She still makes occasional public appearances on behalf of the LBJ Library.



Just a reminder that Laura isn't the only Texan to be First Lady.

to Lady Bird. Thanks for reminding all of us of this very strong, smart woman. (I keep trying to grow blue bonnets because of her!) I love it that she understood how much beauty in the world around us meant.

Lady Bird is 94 and dresses better than Laura!

I'm glad that Kay BH made the appearance at the library with her. Interesting that in six years I don't think either Laura or the chimp have made a public appearance with Lady Bird - or maybe she just doesn't want to be seen with them :)

9. You're right...and she is among the first ladies who did community service

projects.

Laura would be among those who did nothing. Not even exert a positive influence on her stupid husband.

I think you may have that right. I doubt Lady Bird has much respect for the * family en toto. Being seen with Lady Bird would lend them an aura of respectability they certainly don't deserve. :)
