I realize that we have loads of differing views and opinions here, that there are arguments to be had, cases to be persuaded, I realize that there is a ton of work to do for the Dems to just start to fix the incredible amount of damage done since the election theft of 2000. I realize that the media is putting some odd spins on the Democratic Tsunami, that Hannity, Rush, Coulter and the rest still exist, that Safire, Krauthammer and others are writing, and will continue to write, deceitful, hateful, twisted rhetorical columns.
However, after staying up till 4 AM election night, and even knowing that Tester and Webb had yet to be declared victorious. I slept well, and continue to do so. I feel as though the horrendous nightmare of the past 6 years is finally over - that we have at least the beginnings of a way forward, of hope. Perhaps we will find out about the secret Cheney energy meetings. Perhaps we can continue to peel away the layers of corruption and laziness and deceit of the vast misdoings of the current misadministration.
We are now winding up the first weekend following the Blue Wave. I've read quite a bit on DU, admire the passion of those fighting the good fight. I am with you. But for now, I feel the need to take a look around, be thankful that Harry and Nancy and Ted and Russ and the many other good people on the Dem side now have a fighting chance to make things better. This was a great weekend. I hope all of you had great weekends! DU helped keep me sane (as much as I am sane...) since I found it a few years ago - it has become one of the most relevant web sites I visit each day (many visits each day). I look forward to the next chapter - the battles between now and 2008, and then taking the presidency in 2008 - and putting the country back on track. Finally - an opportunity to look forward to tomorrow with some hope!
