In the final mud-slinging countdown: Fear always wins
and the truth be damned. This is why the right wing and its showbiz-masquerading-as-journalism hirelings will make some gains. Rove & Co. know exactly how people respond to these exchanges, and they'll beat it for all it's worth this week.

However: I think the truth, despite being damned, will carry the day.

5. Fear first breeds more fear
Then it breed compliance

Then it breeds complicity

Then it breeds doubt

Then it breeds contempt

Then it breeds resentment

Then it breed resistance

Then it breeds hatred

Which ultimately breeds fear.

2. I disagree
Heroes win. Brave people willing to stand up to bullies. Everybody loves them!

7. It depends on the frame of reference, though.
A brave person like George W. Bush standing up to a bully like Saddam Hussein (despite all the hand-wringing from the international community.)

Lots of people, far too many, still believe this lie. And the minute someone in the press starts to take Bush to task, they see this as bullying by the "drive-by media."

I guess my point is that cynicism and blame resonate so well as entertainment in our culture that liars and thieves have a distinct advantage.

3. Kerry needs all our help on this one.
We must not allow him to be misunderstood.
