Torture legalized. No habeas corpus. FRAUDULENT ELECTIONS!
Edited on Tue Oct-24-06 08:24 AM by jarnocan
VOTE absolutely, absentee or early if you can- raise the ALARM (scream bloody murder?:), if something seems amiss... http://velvetrevolution.us for more...
However, I just don't think we can count on the elections to save the day. Bush and his inner circle seem very smug and smirky. The Today Show again makes me so sick as they discuss how the polls were wrong before -bhah blah blah, without giving a clue to their viewers as to the real reasons for that.

No habeas corpus for anyone Bush declares an enemy combatant. Torture legalized.
War ships sailing to Iran & sitting off the coast of Korea.
U.S. planning to split up Iraq or stage a military "coup."
Almost 3000 U.S. soldiers killed & 20,000 wounded & maimed, 655,000 Iraqis killed and an untold number wounded & suffering from the occupation.
Rigged elections via electronic & voting disenfranchisement & other dirty tricks.
All out for Oct 28 anti-war rallies !

October 28 National Day of Action
Locally Coordinated Anti-War Protests from Coast to Coast
Vote With Your Feet … and Your Voices, and Banners, and Signs!
Let Every Politician Feel the Power of the People!

I do think it is so important to keep the pressure on on as many fronts as possible. BE visible. Post signs, make calls, whatever, get the truth out (or a clue to it at laest) there anyway you can.
I also sincerely believe www.worldcantwait.net and I am getting more fearful, although in some ways also more hopeful. We do have some wonderful people running for office throughout the country.

1. In my county, we have scanned ballots
I would much, MUCH rather visit the polling place on Election Day, fill out a ballot and make sure it actually gets turned in. With the screw-ups for which the King County (Washington) Elections Board has become famous for over the last four years, I don't dare vote absentee: bad things happen in this county to mailed-in ballots.

4. I do worry about that, many are encouraging voting absentee so

likely they will be heavily targeted as well. Remeber this 1-866-our-vote (yet will they ajm the phones?) like I said fight in every way- if there is mauch eLECTION FRAUD we have to HIT hard, Folks have done so much, tried so hard, it is hard to know what more we can do.

Sharing suggestions is more important than "oh my" and eye rolling IMHO. (see below)

Funny how some folks can't read or comprehend very well, they think, paticipating a rally, means you can't vote. I guess it's nice to know nor all the silly folks are freepers:)

10/24/06: VR Commissions Zogby Poll in Clint Curtis/Tom Feeney Florida Congressional Race – It’s a Dead Heat!
http://www.velvetrevolution.us/
I know stuff like this is good news, but it just makes me so sich that so many could even be considering voting in favor of election FRAUD, of course nothing even close to the full truth has been covered in the TV/msm NEWS so many busy and especially somewhat conservative people really do NOT have a clue, or some just a bit- concerned but do not know many FACTS! They think it is all just conspiracy theories. Clint Curtis is a hero IMHO.

5. Much as I hate the machines, I fear absentee/mail in ballots no guarantee
In AZ, we hear one's party affiliation is clearly marked on outside of return envelope. Anybody think THAT is a safe plan?

Then there are the GOP tricks to challenge residence of people voting absentee. Like the one Palast exposed where GOP send first class mail to home addresses of a lot of black soldiers they knew were deployed to Iraq!.

They marked the envelopes "DO NOT FORWARD" When the mail was returned to sender, the GOP challenged the soldiers residency claims and had their ballots thrown out.

If AZ has envelopes clearly marked with party affiliation, what discreet markings may be out there? How many other people away from home can expect to get mail from the GOP and then have that used to have their ballots tossed out?

Election judges, yeah, many are great. Some are partisans and none to subtle about it; none to honorable either.

Folks, if we want to make sure elections are fair, we need more DEMS involved in all aspects of them. Polling place judges, poll watchers, people in county government who actually execute the election processes on local levels, ballot counters. ALL ASPECTS.

There is no safe election without transparency. Paper ballot tampering can and does happen. We need to be there, EVERYWHERE, to keep it legal.

Find out how it works in your county. Take the classes if they are required. Take time off work and help assure that democracy works. Don't assume a paper ballot on its own will make elections safe.

Be there.

Fell free to take my thoughts and run with them on a new thread if you wish. I have to be away for awhile and it is important stuff. Too many of us are being lulled into thinking merely avoiding the machines will ensure accuracy and fairness.

Millions of people have had personal data 'lost' via missing laptops. Tens of thousands of active duty military. MILLIONS of vets. Thousands of evacuees from NOLA and other Gulf Coast communities, thousands of federal employees, thousands of insurance clients....

Lots of data for the GOP to mine for clues into who might not be home to pick up the mail...

and here is link to Palast on how the GOP disenfranchised a lot of black troops:

http://www.gregpalast.com/massacre-of-the-buffalo-soldiers

And I thread I posted about that combined with the loss of so much personal data on laptops gone missing:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=364x1443718

Last weekend or late last week, some DUers posted from AZ about their mail in ballots having their party affiliation clearly marked on the outside of the return envelopes. Might be interesting to REALLY look at envelopes from other states for any signs of marks suggesting which ballots would be best to 'lose'.

Post all you want from the info/insights I offer. We need for people to realize election security takes more than just paper ballots. Takes participation in all phases of the process and it take diligence.

PM me with a link if you start a thread and I'll kick it later this evening.

Fight on!

Edited to add this tidbit about Voter Data base hacked in Chicago:
