What Did imus Say This Morning About MSNBC?
Something about 750 million dollars, and big changes to prime time programming and some shows being done at different locations. Hope they leave Keith alone!

1. I suspect that Keith is part of the reason of why the restructuring
I also suspect that KO is stepping on some toes and they don't like it. And they feel they can't just boot him out the door so they will make us run around to try to find where and when he will be on.

7. a not irrational fear, but . . .
KO viewership has grown 69% in one quarter. Ad revenues have grown accordingly. Even Scarboring has added viewers who stick on afterwards until Joe can't help himself anymore and turns them off. Things may change, but they won't can him, not like Phil.

I can see NBC boredcast cutting staff. They've been news -lite for many years, and their entertainment stuff hasn't for at least as long. I mean, really, who watched SNL anymore? Or any of their other stuff? MeatDepressed is barely watchable, although one program will not save a network. So being run by CPAs as it is, think of a carpenter who has only hammers as tools. If it doesn't work for the job at hand, get a bigger hammer. GE's hammer is to cut staff.

My diagnosis of NBC is that GE screwed the pooch. They tried to scrape together profits according to CPA and investor demands along its make believe financial branches and manufacturing rates. I mean reall, how can a company hit its target precisely every quarter for 14 yrs straight, without some major league fudging. Their numbers were SOOOO GOOD that they were not believable. Kinda like AIG's insurance numbers.
When GE pressed its thumb on the scale and took away NBC's programming independence, it killed its own goose.

CNBC and MSNBC will probably merge. Watch for KO to survive, perhaps in a different slot, and likely in a slightly different format. Watch for Tucker to be nipped and tucked away. And Hardball will shrink. Even the dense CPAs and imagination-lacking corpserate masters in GE have enough sense to realize that the world is changing The daze of Faux are now limited. The population is tired of christian demands being met by business and government. They will swing to the left. And GE will have to swing with it.

2. Huge restructuring at NBC/MSNBC
Three Rumors About NBC Layoffs We've Read Today: A Round-Up
In the interest of paying some attention, warranted or not, to various rumors about NBC layoffs both "massive" and very targeted circulating on these internets, we present this very special round-up for discussion on your afternoon commute:

· Fishbowl DC hears "reliable grumblings" about the aforementioned "massive" bloodletting, to be announced tomorrow by NBC GE Universal K-Mart hatchetman Jeff Zucker. Verdict: We hear there's some kind of "town hall" meeting with Zucker happening tomorrow, possibly dealing with this.
· Media-deep-throating sister site Gawker says, "We're hearing that NBC is about to get a lot lighter, employee-wise. Some of what we've been told involves massive layoffs at MSNBC, with the remaining crew moving from Secaucus to 30 Rock."

4. Is Microsoft only involved in MSNBC or do they have an interest

in NBC and CNBC also?

It seems their biggest payroll is at NBC.

I only look at MSNBC a little because it is the Republican talking point disseminator.

And I can't figure out what is going on, but the obsessions with crime and prisons must be meetng some kind of purpose within the Republican agenda.

I hope they fire the 'crime and war experts' - especally all the retired Generals.

They could drop all their expensive crime and prison programs.

Yes, these people at Microsoft and GE are providing propaganda big time.

Interesting timing for an overhaul and cutback.

They should remove their morning bigotry program and the bigots who host it - Imus, Charles, Bernard, and the impersonator bigots.

3. Our local right wing rag Cleveland Plain Dealer is laying off, too
Either people are finally getting sick of patronizing these GOP apologist media outlets or GOP supporters are no longer propping them up financially.

Here's a column from one of the Plain Dealer's right wing columnists asking readers to "tell us what you want". Hey Regina, how about if you stop pimping for the GOP and act like professional journalists by telling the truth, investigating stories and reporting all the facts? That would be a start.

6. Newspapers don't care
The jaundiced print media is more interested in recipes and movie reviews and car ads and trying to be TV stations. They've dumbed down so much none of them are worth the newsprint their rightwing nut owners throw out every day.

8. If they're laying people off
they should start caring. Maybe it would be better if they went out of business and we could start with a clean slate.

24. said it again!!..the old druggie dry drunk is not the person
who could enlighten anyone!!

he is a pitiful excuse of anyone i want in my home on my tv!

gosh he goes back to radio in my college days 34 years ago..he was a junkie..and a drunk..and could hardly keep a job...and yet now this dry drunk old junkie is telling americans how they should vote and who is good for this country and who is not??

what kind of mentality of American would watch this piece of trash!!

i would bet the dry drunk never voted until he got his trophy wife and old man... first kid!

i would love to see his voting record..hell he couldn't get out of the alley ways long enough to vote, for god sake!

Maybe he is new to some in this country but not to people of the NY NJ areas..he was a nasty druggie..and a nasty drunk...

and personally..i wouldn't listen to him if he was the only one on air!

so now today he has reinvented himself?? nahhhhhhhhhhhhh

his brains were fried a long time ago!!

14. Link to article:
NBC Universal said Thursday that it will cut 700 jobs and streamline its news operations as part an overhaul aimed at exploiting new forms of electronic distribution.
NBC, a unit of General Electric (GE), says it expects the changes to save $750 million in operating expenses by 2008. The job cuts represent about 5% of its workforce.

At least everyone knows they're idiots. "Irregular Joe" Scarborough though... I'd like to smack his smug beady-eyed puss.

19. THE TIDE IS TURNING,.BIG TIME..PEOPLE PAY ATTENTION
keep shutting off hardball..keep shutting off bow tie boy, keep shutting off the secretary killer ( scarborough)

keep shutting them off..do not buy into their bones they throw us..they are not throwing them to us..it is self preservation..

they know they are on a sinking ship..they see Keith's ratings soaring..so they try it for a segment then they go back to the same old rethug bullshit...

these are not broadcasters...these are talking heads..so now their true colors are showing..they will try to imitate a real broadcaster..Keith ...but they must be made to fail...by you and me!

a republican congressman is not a broadcaster...he was there for the purpose of propaganda..period the end...he is now trying to save his own ass...do not let him!! shut him off!

bow tie boy is just a propagandist..shut him off!

and nutso tweety..well he goes which ever way the wind blows..he is jealous of Keith..he can not stand it that he was the golden boy...and now he is in the dust of Keith.....let it blow..let that dust blow in his face...shut him down too..damn he is just psychotic!! when karl rove sends him the talking points..he gets down and gives rove a monica..well let him choke on it!
shut his ass down ...

Maybe then NBC will hire real broadcasters..and not * talking points ass kissers!

let them know the tide has turned... with your watching habits..and your remote!

let them know..we are the majority in this nation ..and we are not going to put up with the bullshit any longer..

use the power of our numbers to shut their asses down!

if we refuse to drink the red Koolaide..they will have to change the flavor..

and stop excepting a small bone being thrown our way...go for the whole enchilada..
