My point was simply that this seems like yet another wildly excessive potential prison sentence. You know, like all those black people doing mandatory minimum five-year prison sentences for having a few dollars worth of crack (funny, I guess no white people do crack, or at least the feds can't seem to find any; federal crack prosecutions are almost entirely aimed at black people.

I don't mean to imply that there is racism involved in the Snipes deal, but I certainly do mean to imply it when it comes to crack prosecutions. The law may be colorblind in its intent (and I'm being generous), but certainly not in its application in the real world.

Just saw another article saying up to 16yrs, which does seem a little more in line with the crime. If it was him. Apparently the guy who did his taxes was cheating for a lot of people, and getting well paid for it, so it could be he was just stupidly clueless about his finances, like a lot of showbiz types.
