Only 16% Believe "Official Story" of 9/11 - New York Times/CBS Poll
Angus Reid Global Monitor : Polls & Research
Americans Question Bush on 9/11 Intelligence
October 14, 2006

- Many adults in the United States believe the current federal government has not been completely forthcoming on the issue of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, according to a poll by the New York Times and CBS News. 53 per cent of respondents think the Bush administration is hiding something, and 28 per cent believe it is lying.

Only 16 per cent of respondents say the government headed by U.S. president George W. Bush is telling the truth on what it knew prior to the terrorist attacks, down five points since May 2002.

Polling Data

When it comes to what they knew prior to September 11th, 2001, about possible terrorist attacks against the United States, do you think members of the Bush Administration are telling the truth, are mostly telling the truth but hiding something, or are they mostly lying?

6. Would you say
...that you could divide those who believe the administration is not being fully truthful into these groups:

* those who believe MIHOP
* those who believe LIHOP
* those who believe gross negligence is being covered up
* those who don't believe any of the above but believe there were other, but less serious lies

It would be interesting to get a breakdown into these groupings...

14. A frighteningly high number I am afraid.
The Freepers are understandable.

The willful ignorance you see in our neck of the woods is downright baffling.

5. Wow! Guess the Administration is losing the propaganda war faster than
they thought! They probably figured that they had atleast 10 years before the truth started coming out and that they were long gone....

Very interesting...especially to see what more we find out in the coming year....

13. I think 9/11 was supposed to happen in 1993. Clinton's election
scotched that, and they had to settle for the WTC truck-bomb
instead.

Eight years late, they forgot to allow for the internet, and
cheap-leaflet technology.

8. What's the three stages of truth quote again...?
"All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed, then it is violently opposed. Finally, it is accepted as being self-evident."

The violently opposed stage in on the wane...

9. Excellent thread! K&R
I was not familiar with these stats until your OP. Thank you for posting this information.

I always wondered how long it would take the public to wake the hell up and realize that since the attack took place on Bush's watch, fault can only lay with him. Common sense should have told everyone that the person in charge is the one who is potentially responsible ~~ even IF the facts are never made known. I always felt the 9-11 Commission was just there to allow the Repukes to whitewash just how totally responsible the Chimp was for 9-11. Now with the info about Condi Rice not being truthful about warnings, it is getting clear to the general public exactly who is to blame ~~ that POS Bush. I am so sick of Bill Clinton being blamed for what clearly happened because that POS in the WH was asleep at the helm. Bush has spent his life pointing the finger of blame at everyone but himself and having his Daddy and his Daddy's friends keep his dumb ass out of trouble. He has skated way too long on passing the buck of blame off to others.

10. ...because Bush lied.
...and Cheney lied.
...and Condi lied.
...and Ashcroft lied.
...and Rumsfeld lied.

Then they didn't want to investigate the results of their lies.

The American people aren't stupid, no matter what ABCNNBCBSFoulNoiseNutwork says.

11. Why is it...
that people who refuse to accept the manipulation of computerized voting also refuse to question the irregularities of the official 9/11 story..or any other story that does not have the facts in evidence to be taken literally? I would very much like to be able to swallow whole such inconsistancies... it may alleviate much of the angst created when viewing all the carnage.

Their world would fall apart otherwise I guess.
