then maybe he doesn't count it as "his statement".

How anyone can read that book and not come away disgusted is beyond me.

3. He never outright said "I hate homosexuals". He just said things like

homosexuality is a sin (hate the sin, not the sinner), gays shouldn't have the right to marry, homosexuals can't be Christian, because they're unrepentant, that the sole purpose of homosexuality was to destroy the family, compares homosexuality with pedophilia, and so on and so on. But he never once said he "hates" homosexuals. Arrrgghhhh!

he has some issues of his own. Remember, dobson told xtian dads they should shower with their sons so the kids could see their dads penises. Not necessarily homophobic but awful strange coming from someone who "hates the sin".
