ABOARD AIR FORCE TWO - Vice President Dick Cheney said he “can’t tell” how a Republican sex scandal will impact next month’s elections, but insisted “it makes no sense” for House Speaker Dennis Hastert to resign.

In his first public remarks on the burgeoning scandal, Cheney told The Washington Examiner in an exclusive interview that fellow Republican Hastert, R-Ill., should reject Democratic calls for his resignation.

“I’m a huge Denny Hastert fan — I think he’s a great speaker,” Cheney said in his private cabin aboard Air Force Two. “And it makes no sense at all for him to think about stepping down.”

Cheney flatly rejected predictions by pundits that Democrats will take control of the House and Senate in November. “We will retain control of both houses,” he said.

Cheney comes out and makes a guarantee like that, it worries the hell out of me. I don't care what any of these "smarter-than-thou" "mainstream" Democrats say, the Republicans have stolen at least three national elections (that we know of) and I don't see why they won't do it again. I just cannot envision this criminal, fascist organization turning over power just because they "lost" an "election". After hearing on the Moyers' report last night how Norquist and Abramoff spoke to each other in terms of "war" with Liberals it really brought to light the mind-set of these cretins. 30. What he says if he thinks that it is going to be a tough election

is that every Republican MUST get out and vote. He says we can win this and retain both houses of congress if we can get ALL of our supporters out to the polls on Nov. 7th. He says a lot of encouraging things and tries his damnedest to get his party to the polls. That's what he says if he thinks his party can win, even in a tough election - that EVERYONE agrees will be a tough one for the Pubs. But what does he say? He says, no sweat. Don't worry about it. We are going to win both houses with no problem. This doesn't sound like someone worried about turn out. This isn't someone who is cheer-leading for his side, this is someone who is telling the faithful not to worry, the election is in the bag...
