Jeb Bush - Charlie Crist - Mark Foley Connection?

If Jeb Bush and Charlie Crist can be shown to have connections to the Foley Scandal - Florida Democrats could ERASE Crist's 15-point lead.

Our Attorney General and GOP Gubernatorial Candidate Charlie Crist has offered his department's help in investigating Foley, but I am very interested to see if his involvement helps or hinders this investigation. Let's all hope that some serious reporters keep on top Crist's office during this one. Any smell of a cover-up could bring Crist down.

Even without this, an underage homosexual sex scandal is the last thing Crist needs. His sexual orientation has been debated for YEARS in Florida. It never really came in to play during his elections as a ticket-killer, but with holier-than-thou conservatives simmering over this Foley mess, the rumors of his preferences may be enough to keep them home on election day. Homophobia is a crappy way to win an election, but at this point, I'll take it.

Either way, I think it is more important than ever to link Bush-Crist-Foley in Florida. Angry Republicans staying away from the polls can color my beloved state Blue!

I found this while Googling - interesting reading - why exactly would Foley need civil counsel? Theh plot thickens down here in the Sunshine:

For years, Florida gubernatorial candidate Charlie Crist has been dogged by rumors he is gay. Unlike Foley, who resorted to female arm candy to put reporters off the scent, Crist maintains a "monastic" lifestyle, and makes no pretense of living a normal existence.

Air America carried an interview with an individual who said that Foley had attended "gay parties" with Crist. True? Not true? I would like to know. I do not believe a person's sexual orientation should be a disqualification for office. But lying to the public is a serious matter. One of the people I detest most in Illinois politics is a character named Tom Roeser. But Roeser had it pegged just right this week when he said cries of "privacy" by Republican candidates and public officials concerning violations of party policies were nonsense .

Which brings us to Governor Jeb Bush. Jeb Bush has known for over a decade Foley had "a problem" with right-wing Republicans. Jeb helped Foley cover his tracks. What did Jeb know and when did he know it? Bush is hiding no less than Foley and Crist. He owes the public a full accounting. Unlike the president, who can legitimately claim ignorance of the scandal, the president's brother in Tallahassee is knee deep in the big muddy on this one, having covered for Foley and now possibly covering for Crist.

Finally, a few words with my own lawyer's hat on. David Roth is an excellent criminal lawyer, one of the best in Palm Beach County. But Roth has disclosed that Foley also has "civil counsel." Who are they? Why is Foley hiding their identity, when they are orchestrating a cover-up of the identify of the supposed molesting priest? Doesn’t getting out the truth promptly count for anything? Must Foley manipulate and control everything? This is treatment? It sounds to me more like Foley is treating us to another slice of his control freak personality.

4. I've been pushing the connection since this came out
I even posted this last night, but there were no takers:

What did Jeb Bush and Charlie Crist know and when did they know it?

According to reports, Jeb Bush had been notified about a year ago of Mark Foley’s escapades and was asked to look into any legal conflicts regarding Florida law.

Charlie Crist, the Attorney General of Florida, current Republican candidate for Governor, protégée of Jeb’s who is running on a campaign of protecting children’s rights against sexual predators, should be the one looking into this.

What have Jeb and Charlie covered up?

Why hasn’t Mark Foley’s computer been confiscated and protected from tampering.

All Floridians should be contacting their local media and newspaper and ask them to have these questions answered.

Can anyone think of any other questions that need to be answered before the November election?

7. Pardon my ignorance but is it protocol when a U.S. Rep. resigns that
he notifies his state's Governor? One of the local Tampa stations reported that Foley called Jeb Bu$h before tendering his resignation to Congress. Does the Governor have a hand in picking the replacement candidate? Or was it a heads up to Jebthro that the jig was up and to batten down the hatches?

Thanks.

15. The governor of the Congressman's state appoints someone...
...to fill the empty seat vacated by a Congressman who resigns, dies, gets elected to another position, or otherwise leaves a seat empty. That's one of the reasons it's so important to elect Democratic governors.

10. If Democrats in Florida were really as unscrupulous as Karl Rove,
they would push every meeting those two had together and point out that they are both single men.

12. Jeb IS tangentially connected to a child-molester:
Edited on Wed Oct-04-06 10:27 AM by No Exit
Jeb's wife, Columba, has a sister who is married to a guy named John Schmitz. This Schmitz is a high honcho in the repukelican party. And this John Schmitz has a sister named Mary Kay LeTourneau. LeTourneau, of course, is the woman who sexually molested the 13-year-old boy--more than once.

I believe it was Mary Kay's brother John Schmitz who served in the George H.W. Bush administration.

In a sense, Mary Kay LeTourneau is an in-law of Jeb Bush.

14. I've been disappointed in the intensity of Davis' campaign.
At least on the ground in Brevard County. I've yet to see a street sign for Davis but the Crist's stupid mug is everywhere. I don't watch much tv, but I've stumbled on several Crist ads but none for Davis.

By the way, I love (sarcasm) the Crist ad that blames all of our ills on those liberals in Washington, of which Davis is one. First of all, liberal ISN'T an insult! And WHO has been in power for over a decade????

16. It's the tired old G.O.P. playbook
Standard procedure: Label your opponent as a liberal and blame everything bad on liberals. Too bad it won't work this time, since the liberals haven't had any power in Washington in quite some time.

Bob Corker is doing the same thing here in Tennessee against Harold Ford, Jr. but even the staunchest Republican laughs at the suggestion. Times have changed and they will see that their strategy has outlived its usefulness.

22. What's the diff? Democratic candidate is an unknown!
No one knows his name. I'd have to look at "Jesus" Crist's commercials to find out what his name is. The Democrats aren't even running ads to try to counter Crist's commandments.

The Democratic Candidate for Florida's Governorship, whatever the hell his name is, could only win if Crist were to be hit by a truck, or photographed having sex with kitchen appliances.
