Bernie Sanders will show the Dems the light
we will finally have a progressive Senator!
I dig Kerry, Feingold, and Kennedy too. I hope Bernie shows them how to roar like the LIBERAL LIONS that they are.

check him out at www.bernie.org

4. Bernie is an independent
He considers himself a "socialist democrat", but he is not, technically, a Democrat, even though he caucuses with them.

6. I'm really looking forward
to having Bernie as my Senator. He'll do a great job, and as an added bonus he'll give freepers a bad case of heartburn.

8. No he won't; he's a damnable, godless democratic socialist.
This is America, not Soviet Russia. Hopefully, he will end up dead with a bullet in his body like that other commie socialist Dr. King, or maybe his plane will crash accidentally like Senator Wellstone's did.

:sarcasm:

12. Well, naturally it's pointing out the hypocrisy of American leaders
Our leaders insist they are the good guys, but the simple fact is a law doesn't distinguish who you are if you are Stalin or Hitler or somebody like Johnson or Bush or Reagan et al. If you break the law against torture, for instance, then who you are has no relevance on the fact the law was broken. If you helped to destroy democratically elected governments for your own gain, you're guilty as much as Hitler et al. were of the same crimes.

14. The US government tacitly allowed Suharto to invade/annex East Timor
What followed was a level of killing per capita that wasn't seen since the end of the 2nd World War. 200,000 people or roughly a third of East Timor's population would perish. Under both Carter and Reagan, military aid to the Suharto regime was increased to help support the occupation. Bush, Sr., and Clinton continued the policy until it became apparent Suharto was losing power by the late 1990s.

9. You realize, of course, that Vermont is one of about five places
He could win? I love the guy, but the way the Repukes work, they'd chop him to bits in most more bigoted states. Just whispering the word socialist is death in about 45 states.

11. I think people like to hear it how it is
Edited on Fri Sep-22-06 05:08 PM by mdmc
Perhaps people would be receptive to a socialist straight talker?
I think value honesty. The muddled tripe that most pols spew makes people hate politics. Perhaps a Bernie-like socialist could wake folks up.
