I've finally seen the program that epitomizes American culture...
the one that reflects us at our corporate, capitalist, self-absorbed, hypercompetitive, venal best. I just ended up making my way through an episode of "Project Runway." Talk about encapsulating the ugly American. Mean spirited, cutthroat, overly intense but oh so shallow and all about the surface and appearances. A truly vicious piece of work.

1. I agree ... and I've been sucked in more than once
After reading your post, I'm swearing off that trash because it is exactly as you say.

2. I was thinking about renting that...
...just for some empty calorie fun but now you've made me afraid. I actually did see one episode of it about a month or so ago. That grey-haired guy with the glasses really irritated me though. He managed to be both cold and prissy. Very off-putting.

7. Watch it if you like.
I'm not a big fan of reality TV and I'm just giving my opinion of what I've seen of this show. Its about packaging, competition, selling, and not much more.

10. It's my favorite as well...
but no new show tonight  I don't see the problem with watching a bunch of extremely talented people (or so it seems to lucky-to-be-able-to-sew-on-a-button me) vying for a prize without having to endure screechy voices and clumsy dance moves. As for backstabbing, the OP truly must not watch much reality tv. I intensely dislike most of it but I've seen enough to know that the infighting on Project Runway is MILD by comparison.

The OP may want to try "Sweet Sixteen" on MTV if he's interested in exploring the nadir of reality programming.
