Bird Flu - Just another Scam- The Rumsfeld Connection
Donald H. Rumsfeld Named Chairman of Gilead Sciences

Foster City, CA, January 3, 1997 - Gilead Sciences Inc. (Nasdaq: GILD) today announced that board member Donald H. Rumsfeld will assume the position of Chairman, effective immediately. Mr. Rumsfeld succeeds Michael L. Riordan, M.D., who founded Gilead in 1987 and has served as Chairman since 1993. Dr. Riordan will continue to serve as a director on the board.

As you may know, It was Gilead that developed Tami-Flu, which has been hyped as the "cure" for the Bird Flu. Gilead Licensed the production of Tami-Flu To the Roche Group(Bush Family associate Lodewijk J.R. de Vink is on the Board). Gilead receives substantial royalties from the sale of Tami-flu. Rumsfeld may still posses a large number of Gilead shares, and would profit greatly. After a media campaign on Bird Flu, governments have been urged to stockpile large quantities of Tami-flu, even though Tami-flu is NOT A VACCINE and only shortens the time that you are sick.

After seeing the way that the Bird Flu was hyped in the media, I thought that something seemed fishy. And the link is online for all to see

1. I believe the danger has been hyped some...
But the fight against the Bird flu is not orchestrated by Rumsfeld to line his own pockets...this is ridiculuous.

First of all Tamiflu is not a "cure" for any kind of flu, second of all, the primary driver behind the concern for the flu is WHO, whose prudence is serving us well.

You have entered tin-foil hat territory

4. always someone willing to let you know when you've strayed into
"tin-foil hat territory", as a public service.

the nifty thing about that is it is an attempt to do several things simultaneously:

1. it attempts to shut down the discussion outright through derogatory accusation
2. it attempts to invalidate the poster as insane and therefore nothing they have to say has merit or credibility.
3. it neatly sidesteps addressing the actual issue by marginalizing it as a nonsense topic.

now...isn't it comforting to know how honestly people debate issues?

6. Sorry...
I'm not trying to shut down anything. In my opinion this is a wildly speculative assertion not borne out by fact.

And of course I am not trying to assert anyone is insane...and I take issues one at a time...so views on this will have no bearing on another conversation.

products. You cant trust anything in the MSM lately, I wonder if you agree with me on that one. The makers of Tami-flu have already profited, governments have already stockpiled Tamiflu. Even though the medicine may be obsolete, they still made their money.

Second, I never claimed that Tamiflu is a Cure, Did you bother to read my whole post?
Here's a short excerpt:

"Tami-flu is NOT A VACCINE and only shortens the time that you are sick."

Anytime we look at orchestrated media campaigns, we have to look at them with skepticism.

10. This is in the article that you snipped...
"As you may know, It was Gilead that developed Tami-Flu, which has been hyped as the "cure" for the Bird Flu."

I apologize for the mistake

2. Actually, Tamiflu isn't the drug of choice any more...
The H5N1 virus is developing a resistance to it. Relenza (no connection ro Rumsfeld) is likely to become the new recommended drug.

12. Well you can tell it to
the people in Turkey who got tamiflu early and survived vs the ones who got it late and did not.

3. I don't believe in this coincidence
Great post... been curious about this myself about the connection. The question is when did Mr. Rumsfeld leave Gilead?

5. I suggest
you read some reputable science/medical journals. Although the danger from bird flu may be over hyped be the media, the possibility that it could mutate is a real one. You're investing in Rumsfeld, far more power than he actually yields.

8. Lets not forget that Bush, Rumsfeld, and all his Cronies are the
big-business people. They will use their positions of power and influence to better their business interests. Even though Rumsfeld is only Secratary of Defense, he is one of the most powerful people in the country. That is undeniable.
