The Bush/GOP/Moonie Connection: Bizarre and UNDERREPORTED
I wish we really did have a left wing media so they could report this bizarro relationship between Rev Moon, self-proclaimed savior of the world, and the cult that the GOP has become. They took the Moonie tactics and just Christian-ized them a bit. But wassup with being so chummy with a guy who wants to take over the entire world and says he's the new Jesus. A guy who said "US Presidents Will Bow To Me," and who amazingly, with the Bushes, WAS RIGHT! WHERE IS THIS STORY?

1. You won't see it on broadcast news - Moon bought up most of the studio
space around the DC area. The news networks use his space at a BARGAIN RATE and even use video crews that come at a BARGAIN RATE.

They will not upset that connection.

Thanks to his 4 decade alliance with the Bush family, Moon is now in control of HALF this nation's fishing industry. He is working at controlling the rest of it. Think loaves and fishes.

He has also purchased all the land above the world's largest aquifer in South America - just in time for the world's water wars.

11. Have you seen allegations that Sens Santorum and Lieberman were
"leaders" in the Moonie-founded "Empowerment Network"? IMO, during the next two months both candidates ought to be asked frequently about the parts they've played in that group's activities. One of the many links in the OP brought me to this tidbit:

From http://dir.salon.com/story/news/feature/2003/09/24/moon/index.html?pn=3 :

"And in December of last year, Bush appointed David Caprara, a top official for Moon in Washington, to head the War on Poverty program AmeriCorps VISTA. Caprara had been director of Moon's American Family Coalition and was one of the Unification Church's top political operatives.

A former aide to Jack Kemp, Caprara founded a pro-faith policy group called the Empowerment Network. It claimed Sens. Rick Santorum and Joseph Lieberman as leaders, though their names recently disappeared from the site. (Lieberman's spokesperson told Salon the senator had never been formally affiliated with the Empowerment Network; Santorum's office didn't return calls.)..."

BTW, be sure to skip the third paragraph on page 1 of that article, the one that begins, "What sort of proper sexual habits?" Ewwww!

4. Not just with the Bushies....Photo of Coronation of Rev. Moonie as Messiah
in the Dirksen Senate Office Building. Sen. John Warner arranged this...

http://archive.salon.com/news/feature/2004/06/21/moon/index.html

Hail to the Moon king
The deeply weird coronation of Rev. Sun Myung Moon in a Senate office building -- crown, robes, the works -- is no longer one of Washington's best-kept secrets.

- - - - - - - - - - - -
By John Gorenfeld

June 21, 2004 | You probably imagine your congressman hard at work in the Capitol debating legislation, making laws -- you know, governing. But your newspaper probably didn't tell you that one night in March, members of Congress hosted a crowning ritual for an ex-convict and multibillionaire who dressed up in maroon robes and declared himself the Second Coming.

On March 23, the Dirksen Senate Office Building was the scene of a coronation ceremony for Rev. Sun Myung Moon, owner of the conservative Washington Times newspaper and UPI wire service, who was given a bejeweled crown by Rep. Danny K. Davis, D-Ill. Afterward, Moon told his bipartisan audience of Washington power players he would save everyone on Earth as he had saved the souls of Hitler and Stalin -- the murderous dictators had been born again through him, he said. In a vision, Moon said the reformed Hitler and Stalin vouched for him, calling him "none other than humanity's Savior, Messiah, Returning Lord and True Parent."

continued at above link for Salon..

This was also reported in the Washington Post and of course, slipped through the cracks.....

23. so, if Hitler and Stalin have been born again through him
who are they today? Hmmmm.....:eyes: I wonder what the freepers think of Moon thinking he's the new messiah? It's amazing that they refuse to see the political connection between Moon and some of our politicians--especially, the neo-cons. Isn't it amazing that Moon can be crowned in one of the senate chambers, but the hearing about the Iraq war and intelligence led by Democrats was held in the basement? Spooky occult bull crap!!!

9. SF Chron: Moonies control tens of $millions in HHS "Healthy Marriage"
Edited on Sat Sep-16-06 03:06 PM by ProgressiveEconomist
initiatives and other "Faith-based" programs. That's taxpayer money, going for kooky activities dreamt up by a lunatic, who marries thousands of couples who never met before their wedding day!

The "logic" behind the "Healthy Marriage" program, as explained by Assistant Secy of HHS Wade Horn, is that married people are less likely to be poor or to be career criminals. But isn't their marital status the RESULT, not the CAUSE, of their lifestyle? What a moron!

From http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2004/10/03/MOON.TMP :

"Moonies knee-deep in faith-based funding: Pushing celibacy, marriage...

Don Lattin, Chronicle Religion Writer Sunday, October 3, 2004

President Bush has some new troops in his crusade to promote "healthy marriage" and teen celibacy with federal funds -- followers of the Rev. Sun Myung Moon, the controversial Korean evangelist and self-proclaimed new world messiah. At least four longtime operatives of Moon's Unification Church are on the federal payroll or getting government grants in the administration's Healthy Marriage Initiative and other "faith-based" programs. ...

In some ways, Moon is an unlikely ally for President Bush's crusade to promote traditional family values. The 85-year-old Korean is perhaps best known for presiding over mass marriage ceremonies for devotees whose unions are arranged by Moon or other church leaders. After marriage, Unification Church couples are given detailed instructions for their honeymoon, right down to the sexual positions they are supposed to assume during their first three conjugal couplings. ... In 1982, Moon made headlines around the world when he presided over a mass marriage ceremony involving 2,075 couples in New York's Madison Square Garden. ...

Another longtime political operative in Moon front groups, David Caprara, now directs the Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives for the federal government's Corporation for National and Community Service. That agency runs, among other things, AmeriCorps Vista, which works with community organizations in low-income neighborhoods, and has emerged as a key player in Bush's faith-based initiative, handing out $61 million to faith-based organizations in fiscal year 2003. Caprara is the former president of the American Family Coalition, a "grassroots leadership alliance" funded by the Washington Times Foundation and founded by Moon in 1984. Caprara declined to comment on his Unification Church ties, referring questions to his press secretary, Sandy Scott....

12. Abramoff and Moon
Edited on Sat Sep-16-06 04:16 PM by drm604
Anyone remember Greenberg Traurig? If you check out that link you'll see that they're connected to both Abramoff and Bush, among other things.

This NYC government website shows them as lobbyists for the Unification Church in 2000 and 2001.

This article makes the following claim:

Under Abramoff and Norquist, the College Republicans also allegedly began tapping into Rev. Moon’s mysterious well of nearly unlimited cash. In 1983, Rep. Jim Leach of Iowa, then chairman of the GOP’s moderate Ripon Society, released a study saying the College Republican National Committee “solicited and received” money from Moon’s Unification Church in 1981.
