In search of the Taliban's missing link...
'The Taliban-led resistance in Afghanistan is working better than ever before. This is not in dispute. What is a mystery is how the Taliban command not only evades capture, but precisely and accurately conveys orders to the battlefield. Crack this code, and US-led forces won't be chasing so many shadows.

KARACHI - Despite spending many millions of dollars, US intelligence, five years after the ouster of the Taliban from Kabul, remains in the dark over the command structure of the Taliban.

The Taliban have a tight high command from where - and this is the mystery - precise orders, such as targets, are relayed to the fighters in the field. Cracking this code is key to putting a brake on the insurgency that gathers strength by the day.' http://www.atimes.com/atimes/South_Asia/HI16Df01.html

1. There's no code!
Insurgencies always have the advantage of surprise, terrain and the support of the people.

It's only our propaganda that is telling us that 'someone' in either Afghanistan or Iraq outside a narrow circle of oil executive exiles supports our mission there -- don't need no code to have a civillian shopkeeper hold up two fingers indicating two military vehicles and then tap the wrist where a watch would be to indicate 'recently'...

Just like we don't need a code to tell us where police roadblocks are at night...usually our fellow citizens will flash their headlights giving us the heads...
