1. I voted for "Plamegate", but I'll admit...
that it's the optimist in me. And I'm basically a cynic. ;)

22. Two things would help:
First, if Rove refuses to accept the deal Fitzgerald has offered, and is indicted before spring, it will be nice. If he does take the deal, that's nice, too.

Second, if the public recognizes that the Larry Franklin/AIPAC scandal is part of the Plame scandal, it would be beneficial to the democrats. But some democrats who want to run in '08 are afraid to confront AIPAC. A senator from my state hopes AIPAC will support her, for taking a "right-of-Bush" stance on Iran.

27. Plamegate should be called "Brewster Jennings" Gate...
Edited on Tue Jan-24-06 02:09 PM by calipendence
Because I believe that ultimately when they investigate the real reason for outing Valerie Plame, which is to stop his investigations, we'll find the core of the conspiracies and different scandals here, and Sibel Edmonds will be the stamp of approval of the links between most of them.

Besides we need a "BJ" to help us impeach the bastards if we follow their rules!

2. Change that poll!
You forgot the wiretap-gate.

I don't have a sense of when the American people will wake up, but history will definitely record this as the single most important issue of our times.

Too bad most people don't know about it. Yet.

5. That will likely be the one that gets Bush...

...and maybe Cheney... but who else? OK fine. I'll substitute it for PBSGate since noone's likely to vote for that.

9. Ah, there are many co-conspirators
Republican Members of Congress, for refusing to hold hearings.

A compliant Attorney-General, for attempting to enable this behaviour.

Judges, who laid the foundations for the justifications (cough. ALITO. cough.)

There's PLENTY of pre-meditation to go around here.

After you asked. It used to read PBSGate (Rove).

3. If the Dems get either the House/Senate so they can investigate,
a lot of them will be packing it in. I'm thinking about the way the pins come down after you've thrown the bowling ball dead-on. Oh, what a feeling.

I've decided they'll just keep coming up with new scandals to take our mind off of the old ones.

10. I voted "other", because no scandal seems to take a toll on the teflon
criminals of BushCo, thanks in most part to the MSM and the inability of our party to unite and attack.

13. Yes, but which one?

There are three Abramoff scandals now, and probably more to come... lumping them together would give them an unfair advantage :-)

15. I think they should be lumped together
because they are all connected. I voted for Sun Cruz because I think the murder aspect will help get the public's attention, but all roads lead to Rome (Abramoff). If the murder trial is first, people will pay more attention to the subequent trials.

Abramoff, Kidan, Mosciatello, DeLay, Bush -- so many connections.

17. As long as we keep minimizing them with the "gate" suffix, none:
The "gate" affixment simply means they are not outrageous enough to stand alone, which means that while these scandals may be the undoing of immediate perpe-traitors, they will not change anything, certainly not Republican/fascist control of the nation: semiotics 101.

24. Yeah, that was sort-of my point.

That there are more scandals than DU poll options... some I missed:

PBSGate (Rove)
TurkeyGate (Sibel Edmonds, Frist)
Blind Trust (Frist)

21. FISAgate
with all of the Abramoff scandals coming in second. People don't usually wake up in this country until THEY are directly being affected.

23. Not a single scandal - but a confluence of Medicare D
along with Abramoff/DeLay - the latter gives the indication how the disasterous former came to pass in the first place.

26. Here's the bullet on Rose Garden Holdings scandal
Abramoff used this name for his front company in lobbying in the Mariannas for the Tan family of China. Now, this is the sweatshop angle, but it appears to have the POTUS doing business for Abramoff and the Tan family. I'm thinking the Repo's won't like this. It might finally piss them off enough to stop protecting him.

Note the name Abramoff chose, "Rose Garden" Holdings.
I think it was the Asian Times said the Tan's had contributed directly to Bush (around $13K)
Rose Garden and Abramoff got underway in May, 2002.
In November, 2002 is when Bush demoted the Attorney General, shutting down the investigation of Abramoff's influence in the Mariannas.

It looks like they're starting to get exposed big time too, though that might be linked to "Bob Ney gate", etc.
