George W. Bush is the reason I don't like rich kids
which is to say that these reasons go back a long time for, long before I had ever heard of Baby Bush, back when he was still boozing it up in Texas.

It's one thing when someone works their way up from nothing and makes a lot of money. As long as he/she does it honestly, I can respect that, even if he/she adopts a political stance different from mine. But I just have no respect for rich kids who have had everything handed to them in life, living off of trust funds, legacy college admissions, fraternity/sorority bullshit, good ole' boy connections and worst of all, the entitlement mentality. I have generally avoided friendships with rich kids.

And before anyone mentions John Kerry, I only voted for him in the general election, and my choice for the 2004 nomination was Wesley Clark. If you have to vote for a rich kid in the general election, at least make sure his head is in the right place. But then again, Kerry's patrician upbringing perhaps made him a poor candidate because he lacked a genuine populist appeal that Bill Clinton definitely had.

2. While you may be right about Kerry's lack of populist appeal
you left off the fact that diebold machines, voter supression, etc. cheated Kerry out of what was rightfully his

15.  I choose not to prejudge people based on factors over which
they have no control - regardless of how many handkerchiefs they can afford.

Choosing to dislike "rich kids" is no more logical than choosing to dislike "poor kids," "black kids," "gay kids" or "Arab kids."

You can always find an overgeneralization to justify your hatred if you want to (see freerepublic.com for examples). Doesn't make prejudging people any more logical, intelligent or moral.

6. That's why I've called trust funds
"karmic disability pensions" for decades. But seriously I do know some really big hearted folks and generous folks on trust funds. They again I know plenty that are absolutely clueless like our fearful leader.

Go figure.

It truly takes all sorts.

8. You can't help it if you were born into money
There are some real assholes out there who have led pampered lives and done nothing themselves in this world, but there are also people who albeit born into wealth want to lead a more fulfilling life and are moral citizens who want the best for everyone.

10. There are also some poor assholes.
One of the most spoiled brats I ever knew was an ex of mine. He came from a modest economic background but his parents lavished attention on him and shielded him from consequences because he was the only boy. Money would have made him slightly worse, IMO, but he had a pretty well developed sense of entitlement as it was.

12. The Bush family empire is why the estate tax was established to begin with
If preventing families like the Bush clan from amassing untold power is not enough reason to keep the estate tax, then I don't know what is because this country is on the fast track towards ushering in a new era of aristocratic rule. There will be no distinguishing royal titles or any of that "divine right to rule" crap people have grown too smart to accept. Instead, rank and power will be determined by the size of one's wallet and estate.

18. I'm not painting all rich people with the same brush.
Yes, there are those who do nothing but suck on their silver spoon (Bush, his offspring, that whole family, Murdoch, the Royal Family), but other rich families are very generous and giving and work to help others (the Kennedys, Gates, the Clintons, Buffet, and the Kerrys).
