I was thinking of the MC when I read that too (what was his name? Was he ever given a name? I lost my copy ages ago).

I think CNN started slipping when they noticed that Faux "news" was actually getting ratings by spewing complete shi* at the screen 24/7. They figured they had to spew it as well to compete.
