Wolf Blitzer's inane commentary during this new Middle East
Edited on Fri Jul-21-06 04:14 PM by joemurphy
outrage is very, very tiresome.

Hundreds dead, thousands injured, 500,000+ refugees, horrendous property damage, and general havoc. And Wolf asks Amanpour (the only real journalist CNN has) "So is this dead Israeli soldier they found one of the two Hezbollah captured? Or do we know?"

1. I can't stand to listen to him. He is so pathetic.
He is so in over his head with this format. He can't keep track of more than one thing, so when anything new happens, he interrupts his guests, sometimes never coming back to them. He is scattered & it's an absolute joke that he is one of their premier newscasters. He certainly is no journalist.

3. Rice now says Syria and Hezbollah are trying to
"strangle Lebanon's freedom". What a screwball perspective. Israel is dismembering Lebanon, displacing 500,000 people, bombing its infrastructure to smithereens and Condi says Hezbollah is strangling Lebanon.

This is so sickening. I can't imagine what the people of the world think of this. This is just plain immoral.

5. Do.
Do you really expect unbiased, objective news from this guy?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wolf_Blitzer

His career in journalism began in 1972, in the Tel Aviv bureau of the Reuters news agency. He soon moved to Washington, D.C., where he was White House correspondent for The Jerusalem Post after a spell working for AIPAC. In 1990 he was hired by CNN as a military affairs reporter. His team's coverage of the first Gulf War in Kuwait won a CableACE Award and made him a household name. He became CNN's White House correspondent and later co-anchored the daily show The World Today. His coverage of the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing earned him an Emmy Award. In 1997, he began hosting the CNN interview programs Late Edition with Wolf Blitzer, and in 2000 Wolf Blitzer Reports.

8. I don't expect anything objective from CNN.
However, I would think CNN would select someone who is capable of keeping up with the faster & varied format of the situation room. Wolf can read a newscast - that's about it. If it's not scripted, he's lost. Objective or not, he doesn't have the skills for this format.

4. I watched about him about 5 minutes yesterday.
It was actually pretty good and funny. He was interviewing some American colonel who had some major position in Pentagon intelligence dealing with Israel and Lebanon.

Hear it us summed up- (paraphrasing)

Wolf: So what do you think Israel's plans in Lebanon are? Why are they doing this?

Col.: I haven't a fucking clue. They're completely out of their gourds.

Wolf: What sort of tactical plan do you thing they're working on?

Col.: Hell if I know. This shit's just stupid.

Wolf: An Israeli official was quoted today as saying, "we've destroyed half of Hezbollah's strength." Do you think that's accurate?

Col.: (laughing) Well I guess they're going to have to go in and take a look.

Wolf: I think what he means is that they've destroyed half of Hezbollah's Katyusha arsenal. Do you think that's accurate?

Col.: (laughing) Well I guess they're going to have to go in and take a look.

Wolf: Alright, Colonel, thank you for your opinions on the matter...

6. That was Pat Lang. He's brilliant.
He's former Special Forces, speaks Arabic, and is a specialist on the Middle East. He plainly thinks this whole operation is a sickening joke and will be horrendously counterproductive.

7. Well, he's right.
Never heard of him before. They should give him his own TV show.
