Think: Bush directing the NSA to spy on and data mine U.S. Citizens.
Now, immediately following the 2004 Presidential Election, Ken Mehlman was on all of the talk shows bragging about how they targeted voters the same way companies targeted consumers, by mining their data?

With this recent revelation about what BushCo has been up to (spying scandal), doesn't Mehlman's claims about their election success raise any red flags?

1. So Glad You Posted this
It has been bothering me for a couple of weeks. OF COURSE, the Repubs used data mining in the last election. Who is to say they didn't avail themselves of the data banks gathered by the NSA!!!!!!!!! This is not a big stretch for these criminals.

2. I thought that was weird when Mehlman said it but had forgotten
about it until now.
Interesting link, thanks for the reminder.

3. blue dots on the sidewalk...
On a walk around my neighborhood right after CA's special election last fall, we noticed blue dots on the pavement of the street. Just little spraypainted blue dots at the base of a mailbox or driveway (if the mailbox wasn't at the driveway.) Some duplexes had two dots, and some driveways with two homes on the same lot had two dots on the street at the edge of the property.

They seemed to be in front of houses of registered Democrats. They were in front of my house, my landlord's house, and households that we knew were Democratic. They weren't in front of all houses, and not in front of some neighbors who we guessed were Republicans.

I joked at the time that it was like Passover for the canvassers, but didn't look into it because I didn't know where to start. Stuff gets spraypainted on the street all the time. But I live in a very (R) neighborhood in N. California and there were canvassers last year.

Reading this thread, I wonder about the blue dots again.
