Whory Clark: "Huge" difference between Gen's and Dems re: withdrawal
Edited on Mon Jun-26-06 03:49 PM by Atman
On CNN, Whory Clark is claiming that while the GOP's "Phased Withdrawal" plan is essentially the same as the Democrat's "Cut and Run" position, the difference is that the Generals are actually on the ground and they know the facts. Therefore, the GOP isn't stealing the Dem's plan. The GOP's plan is based upon experience. The Dem's is because they're fraidy-cat cut-n-runners.

Got it?

1. Who Clark?
Doesn't really matter who's peddling this BS, but I'm curious...

5. Oh, sorry, musta been a typo...
TORY Clark. She used to be a republican policy advisor of some sort. I think for Bush I, although she seems a might young for that. Either way, she is paraded out on CNN every day as a top Republican strategist. However, Google her name. When you don't even come up on the first page of a search for your own name, you just ain't that important. Face it, Tory. Sorry I gave you extra air time.

10. I think she was the official Pentagon spokesperson
She used to do Pentagon briefings who crazy Rummy or military brass were unavailable. She left the Pentagon during Bush's 1st term, I believe. She's a nasty piece of work.

11. Whory is befitting
That is so funny for those idiots to try and spin this story. CNN used to be a pretty good news outlet;
but, not anymore; they're extremenly busy "trying" to prop Bush up. They don't have time for real news.

      :spray: :spray:

12. Thank you...
Not familiar with that name (but then, why would I be?)

I wonder how little integrity one must have in order to straight-up lie to people for money.

Journalists... *ptui*

13. She had Ken Bacon's job at Defense
Public Information.

The difference is, under Clinton-SECDEF Cohen, Bacon actually GAVE the briefing. Under BushCo, they drag out sweaty flag and general officers to stand there at the "dual podium" while Rummy or some other flack stands beside them with a goddamn cattle prod.

expecting (and rightly so) the majority of the public to "hear" (and think) only in sound bites/slogans/easy to remember talking points

Link anti-war & pro-withdrawal groups with "coward", "cut and run" and any other negative spin you can think of

then come out with basically the same idea...but claim your plan is somehow different...even if the bottom line is exactly the same ( withdrawal/reduction with time-table verses no time-table still equals withdrawal)

Earlier today on the news (CNNi) it was reported the "Casey Plan" (per GOP spin) was different because it didn't set a time-table, allowing the Iraq "government" the chance to gain a stronger footing...(my words/)echoes of the talking point (as they stand up/we stand down...and all the variations on that lame, tired` theme)...so the "Casey Plan" is an extension of Bush's plan when viewed (through the spin) that way...and not a Democratic proposal...who want to "cut and run" and abandon the "mission" (a secure Iraqi government..per Bush's rhetoric/spin/lies/bullshit)(/my words)

The negative spin gains a foothold (cut and run, cowards, surrender)...and the rest gets lost in the politicking...

So, yeah, Cheney knew about the "Casey Plan"...and was attempting to do damage control (their plan of reduction by November was one-upped, so to speak) and get in negative attacks in hopes of shaping the future debate..the one that's taking place now...Casey Plan is the Democratic proposal...is not!(GOP) is too!(Democratic Party)

6. I knew that's how they'd spin it.
It's all a political stunt anyway - they'll bring home about 10K troops (not much, really) in October just in time for the election; use them for photo ops and victory speeches. Disgusting.

14. I saw that.
Her argument pretty much consisted of "Nuh Uhh! The Casey Plan is different because it's proposed by Casey!"

Just like how my 8th grade students claim that their assignment is different than their friend's because it has a different name on it.

15. Well, they have to say that.
I really think americans are so much smarter.

For God's sake bring on November, NOW!!!

That the GOP plan is based on experience makes me physically ill.

We can wait - cause we will win, shortly.

Good post!

16. The friggin shame of it all.....
is that the cowardly, chickenhawk, POS, lying god damn political Repukes are perfectly willing to play with soldier's lives for political reasons.
Republicans are traitors who hate all Americans not from wealth. Soldiers are no different.

The rich stomping on the middle class and those who need help has been going on since the first day the satanic Reagan took office. The Repukes will stop at nothing to achieve their ultimate goal of a two tier America. Those with it all and those that will serve them that gots.

18. I stand with these kids all the way.
That is why it makes me insane to see Repukes play with their lives. Trust me on this, I know the feeeling of being thousands of miles from home in extreme hostilities. I pray each and every uniformed soldier is home tomorrow alive and safe.

I have three.

I didn't mean anything other than that from my post.

Yeah, tomorrow would be the best day to bring them home - if not today.
