CHARGE!
Edited on Sun Jun-25-06 10:50 PM by DistressedAmerican

JUST A FEW MONTHS UNTIL WE RETAKE THE CONGRESS!

CHARGE! CHARGE!

ATTACK!

A CALAVERA FOR DON QUIXOTE
Here rides the cadaver
of Don Quixote the knight,
Ready to take on
any adversary in sight

Neither doctors nor lawyers
Nor priests nor men of letters
Will escape the havoc
He wreaks on his betters

Sorry. Just watched the replay of the Feingold interview on MTP. It has me pumped for the fight.

5. we may vote them in, but that doesn't mean that the vote counting . . .
will be above board . . . and with DRE's, there's no way to check if the counts are accurate or not . . .

we have to remember that BushCo CAN NOT allow the Democrats to take control of either house of Congress . . . not if they want to stay out of jail, anyhow . . . and they have the means to ensure that it doesn't happen . . .

while I remain hopeful, I'm not at all optimistic . . .

6. That Does Not Sound PArticularly Like "Remaining Hopeful".
Too many around here talk like it is a foregone conclusion that they will rig the results and we will lose again. That is only viable in close races. We just have to make sure there are no close races. We need to kick their gaddamned asses so hard that stealing it is not even possible.

9. I don't accept your premise that it's only valid in close races . . .
look what they managed to do to Max Cleland in 2002 . . . polls the day before the election had him with a comfortable lead -- and he "lost" . . .

and polls in 2004 had Kerry winning comfortably in the early returns -- but he "lost by, what, 3 million votes? . . . that's quite a significant manipulation of the results . . .

a race doesn't have to be close to be manipulated . . . without the ability to audit, who's gonna know? . . .

16. It's not hopeless if you do something about it.
But obviously you aren't willing to budge.

What are you talking about? I'm not the one arguing that voting is hopeless. I am advocating we all do it and work to register others.

18. But we need to acknowledge it needs to be changed
..and that the current system is inhibiting us from being able to do it. Nobody is saying it is hopeless, they are saying we need to move quickly now before it becomes hopeless. And denying the reality with cynisism will only slow down the efforts. This is something we need to all work very hard together to accomplish. Fact is that the Diebold electronic voting machiens and it's like are widely known, in every public demonstration, to be highly hackable and change votes.

It did this in a test election in Florida where ten people voted on a city ordinance. 6 for, 4 against. They inserted the votes into the machine and the count became 1 for, 9 against. Need another example? On the day of the Busby/Bilbray election there was a Republican primary in Iowa where a popular incumbent came in 10th when the votes were counted by the electronic tabulator. A skeptical voter registrar ordered an immediate handcount of the vote and found that the incumbent really came in first. If using these machines isn't an egregious violation of our voting rights, then I'm not sure what is. If we can agree that they are however(which shouldn't be too hard), then you can also agree that our basic civic right as citizens is at stake here.

And that's somethingwe need to work very hard to change.
