Dear Dad.
Happy Father's Day, Dad. It seems I'm still not used to your absence and the shock from losing you before I even knew you were sick.

Do you know how much I miss knowing that you're no longer there to talk to whenever I need some advice that I can depend on to be absolutely correct?

And then there are the times when I know I have to make a decision that's going to be painful. That's when I miss the knowledge that you're on my side; that you're in the background supporting me and whatever choice I made; that you trust me to do the right thing.

I miss the example you set for us kids of a way to live life with intelligence, courage, and mental and moral strength every day. I still miss you Dad. Happy Father's Day.

1. I almost made it all day
without crying.

I've been trying so hard not to think about my Dad being gone. I don't know how old you are, but I'm 50 - so you'd think I'd deal with it better - and not need him so much. But damn. I sure do miss him.

2. Be glad for what you had.
I had nothing after the age of 10.

3. Dear Daddy:
I still miss you after 26 years. You would have enjoyed being grandfather to two great kids who are technically adults now.

Happy Fathers Day.

5. Thanks for posting
Lost my father suddenly back in 91. I am thankful every day we mended our badly fractured fences a few years before he passed.

To all fathers, those gone and those still here....Happy Fathers Day

6. My father died about 14 months ago.

I hadn't seen him in 21 years. He ran out on us when I was 7 years old and while

growing up, I always felt uncomfortable around Father's Day.

I don't take any joy in anyone's death; I just felt sorry for him and his inability to

take responsibility for his family. I figure it's a waste of time and energy to hate

him, he could only be the person he was.

I concluded that there are some people that make good parents and some people who have

no business procreating. That's why I decided when I was 12 not to have any children of

my own.
