I'm one of the finalists for The Nation Student Essay Contest!!!!

I just got this email:

"Dear **** ,

I'm pleased to be able to let you know that we've named you one of five finalists of The Nation's first-ever Student Writing Contest. We received more than 700 entries, which we eventually whittled down to one winner and five finalists. Congratulations!

We're planning to publish your essay at TheNation.com, our well-trafficked website, on Wednesday, June 28. The Nation's online editor, Joan Connell, will be editing the piece and will be in touch sometime this week. We don't anticipate any major changes but do need to cut a bit and sharpen the focus here and there. The prize also carries a $100 award, which I'll have to you in about two to three weeks, as well as a free Nation subscription.

Please forgive me for the lack of a formal letter but I'm going on vacation this week and just wanted to make sure you got the good news. But I'll call you early the week I'm back. I need to get some information and want to congratulate you again. In the meantime, do let me know if you have any questions before we talk. I'll be checking email, so please feel free to reply.
