3-Year-Old's Birthday Party Theme: 'NewsHour'
This just tickled me... http://wcco.com/topstories/local_story_167094324.html

(WCCO) When a young St. Paul boy got to pick the theme for his third birthday party, he didn't pick Nemo or the Wiggles or Dora the Explorer. He didn't even pick his favorite sports team.

Henry Schally picked "The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer".

His mother, Jennifer Schally, designed party hats complete with pictures of the PBS news program's regular contributors.

"I think most kids get their favorite show for their birthday party theme," Jennifer Schally said.

Henry's father, Troy Schally, explained he and his wife have watched the show during dinner since their son was an infant. He believes the show's distinctive theme caught his son's attention....

The video is a hoot, too...

When my son was four he wanted a "human body" themed party. It was his favorite subject, so...

3. I saw this and it reminded me of my son....
I was on near bed rest to try to save an ultimately unsuccessful pregnancy during the Senate Watergate hearings. As I laid on the couch watching them, I tried to make them interesting for my 4 year old - switching to Horton Hears a Who whenever appropriate. Apparently I succeeded - his favorite thing to shout as he did a cannonball into our pool was "Sam Dash!" while everyone else was shouting "Marco Polo!". He knew all the players in government.

In sixth grade he went as Irivng R Levine (complete with bow tie) for an oral presentation and could not understand why no one "got it" or knew who Irving R Levine was -- (do you??)

Today he is a handsome, successful, smart and funny management consultant with a brand new wonderful wife - and I dearly hope they are blessed with a child who picks up on current events (managed by parents to screen what they can understand without nightmares) at a very early age.

I sent the site to him to remind him of our special time together.

4. My four year old daughter goes to school with a kid who loves to vacuum.
He even has his own vacuum cleaner. He wanted to have a "vacuum" party but his Mom talked him out of it.

This is the same kid who cleaned his room with the garden hose.

6. That is how it is...he absolutely loves to vacuum!!
This kid is a crack-up. He is always into something or taking something apart to see how it works.

My daughter's school was marching in the Memorial Day parade and this boy and him Mom were behind us. I said, "What is J.J. riding in...a car that he designed and built himself?" His mom didn't think that was funny.
