this madness began with the posting of a poorly sourced diary by one jiggy flunknut. In this diary, Armando, as well as others, called into question the veracity of the sources (in this case Wayne Madsen) and the factual impossibilities of what was being presented.
Then the diary hit the recommended diaries list.
At this point, Armando was rightfully pissed and posted a diary entitled “Stupid Daily Kos.” Unfortunately, this diary was subsequently deleted and, as such, I cannot locate any cached instances of it.
I am working from memory here, but the crux of Armando’s diary was that people need to be more aware of sourcing before they hit that recommend button. He indicated that Wayne Madsen, Capitol Hill Blue and, I believe, Justin Leopold at truthout were not reliable sources of information. Of course, this was stated in the indomitable Armando style, and pissed a few off.
In response to Armando’s diary, the original diarist posted a new diary containing Armando’s private information, which was quickly deleted and the poster was banned.
This series of events took place between May 21st and May 22nd. Through my Google searching, I found a link to a truthout.org posting by one shaggyda (I will not link to this post, as it contains the information in the NRO posting), dated 5/23/06. The text of this post and the allegations contained within mirror the NRO posting to an uncanny degree....
It is clear what occurred here. Upset that his theory had been debunked, Flunknut swore to revenge himself on me. He set about to dig up dirt. Apparently discovering my heretofore unpublished identity (indeed, up to that time no blog had published the information or the links Flunknut had dedicated himself to discovering), Flunknut posted comments in blogs with the information regarding me.
A few days later, because of Wikipedia’s system of publishing, Flunknut decided to deliberately harass and attempt to cause harm by publishing the information in a so-called biography of Armando in Wikipedia. As the previous experience with John Siegenthaler has demonstrated, Wikipedia is extremely vulnerable for use by those whose sole intention is to cause harm and malign. Flunknut’s biography was deleted by other Wikipedia users and reposted by Flunknut many many times over the following days. Finally, I deleted Flunknut’s Wikipedia post and left a message labelling this concerted attempt to disseminate information about him as a harassment campaign. This caught the eye of a Wikipedia editor who e-mailed me. I promptly detailed all of the above information to this Wiki editor who caused the biography to be put into deletion discussion.
There things stood, but Flunknut was determined to exact his revenge. He shopped the information hoping to find a taker. Apparently, he was unable to find any until the date of the Yearly Kos convention was nearly at hand. But then Steve Spruell, who writes for the National Review Online, in his own words, saw an opportunity...
