We didn't get into this disaster of a political situation, overnight.

And, we won't get out of it overnight, either....

It really sucks. It sucks to be the generation that has to be the one that deals with the repurcussions and consequences of America's ignorance, greed, and corporate rule.

But, it is our fight. We will have to do our best.

Everyone should give themselves permission to kick a wall or shout at the top of their lungs or cry into a pillow. It sucks.

It sucks that Rove won't get his comeuppance.

It sucks that Bush is still in power and calling all the shots (Cheney puppeetering from behind).

It sucks that we have no conversations about vision and possibility, instead we are stuck trying to raise awareness of the most basic truth. I thought the 21 century would be an exciting time of discovery. Instead, it seems we are regressing at a lightening fast rate.

It sucks that the Bush adminstration has stolen our treasury, and put our children in debt to pay it back.

It sucks that we have to fight against so MUCH. A MSM that puppets propaganda. Wide spread ignorance. Greed and apathy.

It sucks that we are living on the verge of a depression and the middle class is disappearing.

It sucks. It sucks. It sucks.

And, back up on the horse we get.

1. Another great thread falls down the page to make room for
The endless rehashing of an argument that was all played out a month ago.

Thanks for this, debbierlus. Good words.

2. Actually, we kind of did get into this situation overnight.
And that night was the night between September 12th, 2001 - September 13th, 2001. This was the time when Bush went from idiot who stole an election and was hated by the vast majority of people to hero standing on top of the WTC ruins like he actually did something.

Sure, the repukes have been struggling to gain total dominance over the populace, and it took 21 years (starting with Clinton's "impeachment), but that was the moment we completely lost touch with reality and the W cabal began gripping a hold of this country like a squid with giant tentacles.

4. Not really
The corporate consolidation we face today was built over decades, the media consolidation which robbed us of real news has been going on since Reagan, and the prison system which made us the most imprisoned nation in the world has been building since Nixon and the Controlled Substances Act.

We've been building the foundations of this for decades, we're just now noticing the results of our work.

3. I liked the finish
The post as a whole was good but it was the last line that got my vote. "And, back up on the horse we get."

Yeah, the world sucks and parts of it are more ugly than others. It's not pretty to look at but the longer we let it go the worse it gets. If we don't deal with it our kids and grandkids will be the victims of it.

And back up on the horse we get indeed.

5. Just important to let yourself have your moments of anger...

There is a LOT to be angry about, and it is tough to always be pollyanna. I felt so FURIOUS today when I saw that fat lil piggy squirm his way out. It is unfair that people who create so much destruction and misery have such great power and live like royalty. When I think of all the people who have been persecuted by our justice system, SO unfairly, and the worst criminals in history just skate by....

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...

You are so right. Even, if we don't see a bit of improvement in our life time (hopefully we will!), it is still up to us to do everything we can to make it better. Martin Luther King Jr. gave that incredible, tear jerker of a speech....."We will reach the promised land...I may not be there with you...but that doesn't matter..."

We have to have the same courage as he did.
