the mess that is DC and the tragedies that are going on in so many places of our little blue ball I'm happy. or perhaps content most days is a better description.

remember, it's an inside job and serenity is not the lack of storm, but rather the calm within the storm

peace

My country is descending into fascism and religious zealotry. I feel as though we are advancing into the 12th century, Religious whack jobs are getting more media attention than science, People who think hurricanes are sent by an imaginary friend in the sky to smite certain sexual mores get more press than global warming. We live in an insane asylum and the inmates are in charge! I am not happy.

to read that your dad has that vicious, cruel disease.

People who are not familiar with Alzheimer's really can't understand first hand the agony families go through.

I certainly wish you, your family and naturally your father only the best. :)

Me too, I have survived to this elderly age with lots of good stuff along the way, bad wasn't that bad. Politics now are unbelievable and the thoughts of where this country is right now can put a pit in your stomach. We Dems are generally positve thinkers or at least eternally hopeful.

33. Yes! Joyous, even.
I worry, I get pissed, but it all moves quickly. Up and down on the ride. It's pretty fun. it always has been, even in the midst of some nasty, wretched shit.

Lots of it, actually.

No meds, self or prescribed. (yet!)

Well, the occasional cigarette and vodka.

A lot of vodka on my last birthday.

Laughing is my favorite.

It's true that I'm kind of an idiot. but lifelong friends (and the occasional sailor) can rely on more than just a good time.

34. Not now, but I have hope for the future
My husband's months of unemployment following years of under-employment and layoffs are getting me down, in addition to my health which sucks way more than it should for someone my age.

But I have hope for the future nonetheless. I'm finishing my bachelors degree next year and going on to grad school, so maybe things will turn around then.

36. Tom, in an earlier post didn't you complain about school
loans? Give them a few scheckles a month, or have they changed the penalties for not paying as set-out in contract? In the old days they were pretty good about giving former students a break, silly me, of course that has changed. Anyway, they can't take that education away from you so cheer up.

39. Yes. Happy.
Not deliriously happy and yes, I get angry, frustrated, pissed off at the lies, crimes and horrors of the greedy pigs running the country (world?)... but somehow I wake up each morning feeling blessed and happy. It's a circle. I feel blessed and happy for being blessed and happy... I send good thoughts and light to any and all darkness I'm aware of. That includes the lying, criminal pigs who piss me off. LOL!!

41. I'm usually happy but depressed.
I feel lucky in my circumstances and level of awareness and even enjoyment of the good things in life (truth, beauty, goodness, love, friendship, etc.) I can't shake anxiety and underlying angst. I think the latter have more to do with my own internal workings than with circumstances.

I do think my level of anxiety etc. contribute to my liberalism (never sure I've got all the answers; best to consider other points of view and whether changes might be helpful) and my tendency to notice negative trends that might need attention (i.e., I think depressives may be helpful to the survival of the species, even if they're not so helpful to themselves, as "canaries in the coal mine").

50. I think it happens because of my blood type: B+
I'm in my mid-forties. I've got a county job. I'm going to school (completing my 7th semester at CSULB, part time). I just married the most awesomely awesome woman in the entire world who's 11 years my senior, and live in South Orange County, not 5 miles from the Pacific Ocean.

Add to that the fact that my Ex-Wife just got re-married and is no longer calling me at all hours demanding money and attention.

Plus, I just got rid of my crotch-rocket Kawasaki Ninja and bought my first Harley-Davidson.

I could SAY I was unhappy, but I'd be lying.

I forgot to mention that I work for the Orange County Registrar of Voters... I can guarantee you that in MY county, no valid votes are uncounted, miscounted, lost, denied, or hacked.
