Remember Andrew Dice Clay?
At least, I think that this was his name, during the late 80s or early 90s. Before the Internet invited all of us to spew trash and offensive to the world, with no accountability, and be praised for this.

I have never followed that long blond haired who could be an "O.J. Simpson bride" - according to Dave Letterman. Who is an "inconvenient bitch" - again, Letterman.

But on occasions I do read what others say about her, including that nauseating collection by NanceGregg http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=132&topic_id=2669337&mesg_id=2669337 (yes, I did add my recommendation, because her letter is so perfect.)

But as I was reading that collection I could not help but thinking that the C. Person, like Andrew Dice Clay and Howard Stern, is nothing but a shock jock. She will say the most outrageous things because she knows that she will get platform for them and because the visual media loves that long blond slim body, just as the media is fascinated with any blond in distress. (Wasn't there another long blond haired conservative commentator by the name of Laura Ingham, or something? The visual media will always prefer them to a no-nonsense short haired brunette with glasses)

So, what will happen if she will continue to say outrageous things and everyone will ignore her? How about starting right here, in DU? I did not read most of the posts, but my guess is that there were many threads on her.

Don't report what she is saying, don't report Clinton's response and her counter-response. People like that need attention, this is their oxygen. Cut that supply off and she will wither and disappear.

What do you say?

3. Hell no Ann Coulter is perfect for the left
Her total fucking nutjob insanity should always be singled out. Every time someone says something right-wing all we have to do is say "hey i heard Ann Coulter say that recently" and if they are even remotely moderate or sane they will think "oh fuck i sound like Ann Coulter????"

She's the freakin poster child of the right and should get more and more and more airtime. As much as they can possibly give her.

7. I'm starting to wonder about that.
I mean, this last is very offensive to mainstream America. So in this case the publicity may not hurt. The only thing is that it does make her richer, which sucks.

I wish someone would come up with an abortion record for her. I can't believe she's never had one. Why on earth doesn't someone ask her if she's a virgin. Keep pressing her on it and not let up?

Those remarks by Letterman are unfortunate, and they get liberals in trouble everytime. It's no good to take on a conservative woman with misogynist remarks. Bad strategy, cause in the end we look like hypocrites. We need her to look like a hypocrite, which wouldn't be hard to do by emphasizing her never-married and childless at 40 plus status. Why is it all the women fighting so hard for the conservative way of life are such liberal feminists? That's how we need to frame the question, not picking up the old neanderthal saw of 'she's a bitch'.

12. Why would any liberal care whether she's a virgin or not?
Or whether she'd ever married. I'm over forty and never married. Does that mean my opinions don't count?

Why do you care about her sexual history? It's none of your business.

It's her political speech that is and should be the only issue: not her appearance, not her sexuality, not her marital status.

My two cents.

10. It's fun to do what you suggested - linking Coulter with repubs.
Any time you get the opportunity to compare the comments of your republican colleagues to Coulter, Jump On It!.

It's almost as much fun as asking repubs "Who Would Jesus Torture?" Or "Can I have your house when the Rapture comes?"

5. Well, it was hard to before in 2003...
...when she wrote Treason, because she was going around saying we were traitors in the middle of a then-popular war. It was kind-of scary wondering what people might start doing because of that. Now we're just celebrating her jumping the shark and getting all this negative publicity.

8. You have snatched the pebble from my hand, grasshopper.
You've heard the saying "ANY press is good press"? Not true for Coulter.

Coulter feeds on negative press. People read her column and books and listen to her interviews specifically BECAUSE she's hostile and unreasonable. That's the extent of her marketability.

If she started getting reviews like "Coulter provides an intelligent and fair look into the failings of the Democratic Party" she wouldn't sell a single book. With titles like "Slander Liberal Lies about the American Right" and "Godless The Church of Liberalism " she plays to her only strength...over-the-top shrieking about Democrats.

However, the masses listen to her so she must be addressed in some manner. Don't give her the "negative press" she feeds on, just present her as who she is...a nobody. When the office Repub quotes her, don't get riled up and debunk her. Just smile and say "I didn't think anybody listened to her any more".

Fighting fire with fire isn't always the best option. Sometimes, a bucket of water works just fine.
