I'm lovin Russ Feingold more and more . . .
I thought he was firm, honest, sincere and pulled no punches at the Alito hearing. No pandering, no over-the-top BS. I love how he takes complicated issues and makes them easy to understand for the average joe who doesn't follow politics. If Wes decides to run I'm gonna have a hard time deciding on who to vote for for the Dem ticket. But does he have a chance? I think if he gets his face out there and people hear him, he just may.

And, although not running (as far as I know) Dick Durbin was genuine and sharp as well.

7. Mini Shwing!
Absolutely! I've been stumped on who Wes should run with - this is the ticket! Either way is fine with me.

5. I like Russ, but... he's a Senator!
I'm a firm believer in history. The last Senator to be elected President was Jack Kennedy! Do you realize that was ove 40 years ago?

I don't know if it's because people don't understand the way the Senate works, and there are many votes on the same things, or what's the real cause, but I think that has a lot to do with why Kerry wasn't elected too.

The obvious fact that he's jewish is a debateable subject. There will be people on both sides of that fence, and I don't know which side would win.

9. Well, if anyone can explain what we know will be twisted
about his senate votes, he seems like someone who can. I'm sorry, but as much as I like John Kerry as a leader and human being he made simple things sound complicated sometimes. His strength of character could overcome some of the bigotry.

6. The country is looking for a savior.
People that know admire him. He and Conyers are the cream of the Democrats in my book.

Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their country.

8. Great Midwest Senators
I've always admired Senator Feingold...especially in the days when he and Paul Wellstone were the only real Progressive voices in the Senate. Russ is the real deal and I'm certain he'll be heard from a lot more as this corruption scandal and continued abuses by the regime continue. While I'd like to see what type of support Senator Feingold would get for a Presidential run, I'm not sure the country is ready for what Russ has to offer...however as a member of a Democratic administration he'd be a key asset.

Being from Illinois, I can't rave enough about Senator Durbin. Several years ago I was glad Al Gore passed on him for VP cause I felt he'd be a lot more valuable as a leader in the Senate and I don't think I've been let down. While I think Senator Reid has done a great job as leader (far better than Daschele), I'd love to see Durbin in that position...even better...Majority Leader...in a future Senate.

Also there are other Democrats that still haven't been heard from in this debate. I'm sure Tom Harkin will get his say as will Carl Levin. Also I know that Senators Dayton, Kohl and Stabenow are also solid on voting against ScAlito...and word was even Evan Bayh will vote No as well.

Unfortunately the hearings have become a waste. It's lots of grandstanding and little substance...and what substance there was (the panels today) weren't covered by the cable networks. I have a feeling this process will change in the future and it will be a loss as this should be a procedure where checks and balances and separation of powers is put on display and celebrated, not covered-up and cried about.

Cheers...

22. I have a totally selfish reason for wating Russ to run.
I'm sick of hearing southern accents on the news. More to the point,
I guess, it'd be great to hear a rust-belt accent on NPR for a change, you know? Someone who sounds like me. I mean, that's all in addition to the fact that he's a great progressive and would make a great president, but I'd love to have a non-southern accent on the news for once. When's it our turn?

10. To Be Honest, I've Been Deeply Pleased...
...with Feingold ever since I'd seen him on C-Span when he was a guest at some liberal radio show in that time C-Span was showing America the various liberal and rightwing radio shows (where I also got to watch and listen to Thom Hartmann--what a treat!), and he truly impressed me!

I was also pleasantly surprised to hear he was one of the few Senators who didn't buy Cheney's cooked intelligence regarding Iraq and voted against giving Bush the authorization to use force; admitting that he just didn't trust Bush.

I mean--that guy is really great! Impressive!

Smart, to-the-point, and no-nonsense. LOVED how he framed a question to Scalito that made the man sputter and flush, all the while looking calm, cool, and collected himself!

You gotta love the guy!

As for Dick Durbin--I always enjoy watching him with those happy, friendly, big blues as he gives his Senate statements broadcast by C-Span! I mean, the guy can deliver hard painful punches with the biggest of smiles, and the kindest blues this side of Heaven!

Two great Democratic Senators I admire.

19. A Feingold/Clark Ticket Makes My Sad Brown Eyes Shine!
Two straight-talkers; squeaky clean, incredibly intelligent, relatively young men who know how to get their message across without lengthy, complicated speeches...A GOLDEN ticket.

Now Gore has said with finality "No is NO" to another run for the WH, Feingold/Clark is my pick for 2008!

I just hope that we'll finally get those damned Diebold, Es&S and Sequoia machines OUT of our election system!

Until then, I don't really think the RWers are too afraid...yet.

25. I think 2008 is going to be the best
democratic primary there has been ever. There's going to be so many great canidates to choose from!!! Right now I'm so torn between Feingold and Mark Warner. I would love for them to work together either way.

12. Feingold got some good plugs on the radio and C-Span today
one plug on C-Span on the Washington Journal on Lobby Reform.

Apparently Feingold introduced Legislation in 2001 and then again in 2005 (didn't hear about it before, not until this morning on C-Span)on serious Lobby Reform and it was voted down each time by the Republican party. I was really glad to hear that mentioned on Washington Journal, a LOT of repukes listen to it.

And then, i happened to hear Ed Schultz on my car Radio, (i rarely ever listen to Schultz ) and he put in a real good plug for him, he actually said that a lot of Dems seem to have gotten behind him.

that was a "jaw dropping" moment for me.

Ed Schultz promoting someone OTHER than HRC? Wow!

I think all conventional wisdom on electability are to be thrown out the window now .. this fascist regime has changed everything, "Amurika will never be the same" ..

17. And another thing occured to me
After this massive cesspool of corruption, the public will be parched for a candidate with a heart of gold - strong AND honest. The time just seems right for this kind of guy.

26. I think so too
I think if Feingold was to ever run 2008 will be the perfect timing for him. Our country is really aching for a true-blue progressive who is for the people. He has the record and experience to back it up.

20. I Like Shumer too. He's tenacious!
I don't see where he "panders" though. He's tough, and articulate, and I enjoy watching him whenever I get the chance.

He's never disappointed me.

As for Biden...the fact that Megamouth-Matthews calls him "his favorite Democrat" tells me enough.

I've read somewhere that Biden's been nicknamed "the Iron Marshmellow".

Biden's smart, but he's not impressed me the way Feingold, Durbin, and Clark has.

As a side note: I'm not that impressed with our Junior Senator, Obama either, in spite of all the pooh-hah preceding his coming to Congress, though I give him credit for being the second African-American Senator in history. That alone, is damned admirable, don't you think?

:) Isn't Biden a PNACer?? Obama has been okay but he hasn't been great like he got all the hype from the convention in 2004. He did a really well speech and all that but he should be more out there I think.

His performance in the nomination hearings was outstanding, he seemed so...presidential. Strong on substance & integrity, now throw into that mix the persona of an executive---we've got us a winner!!:)
