"Report warns of threat to world's deserts"
Most of the 12 desert regions whose future climate was studied face a drier future, the report said. Experts predicted that rainfall would fall by as much as 20 percent by the end of the century due to human-induced climate change.

Compounding the threat is the melting of glaciers. A large fraction of water used for agricultural and domestic purposes in deserts in the southwestern United States, Central Asia and South America come from rivers that originate in glaciers and snow-covered mountains, the report said.

The glaciers on the Tibetan plateau, for example, may decline by as much as 80 percent by the end of the century, according to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, a group of scientists advising the United Nations.

The report warned that renewable water supplies fed to deserts by large rivers are also in danger because of climate change and booming growth. It cited the Rio Grande and Colorado rivers in North America, the Tigris and Euphrates in southwestern Asia and the Amu Darya and Indus rivers in Central Asia as being under threat.

1. k n r
You add climate change to the incredible pressures the human population is putting on our habitat - and I get the willies all over.

I did a little study of the water issues around the Indus and the Punjab; you know, the waters shared by two nuclear armed countries that have a tendency to go to war?

I'm scared.

2. More ppl need to be aware of the impending crisis!!
It's People like you and me GreenPartyVoter, who must bring the crisis to peoples attention. We need to write and write and write to everyone we can to urge them to alternative fuels. America has a moral obligation to the rest of the World to correct its greedy, immoral, irresponsible actions which have proven, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that humankind is causing climate change!
Good luck to you, and go in peace!

4. Do they?
The new generations will just take the crime as "fact" much as how we accept
another generation's crimes as fact.... our fathers's were protecting us when
they fucked up the planet, and we honour their stupid graves... because we
are stupid; we are all born in to slavery and hardly a single person will not
die a slave...

The new postmodern reality is a cesspool of dead bodies... post modern indeed,
and all the meta-narratives dead too... what a victory.

5. Absolutely. the time is Now to change defeatist thinking!!
The USA is the The #1 polluter and contributor to global warming. The polar ice caps are melting. Temperatures worldwide are getting warmer, at unprecedented levels. Here's a link:

I don't understand your narrative. Our fathers were protecting us when they fucked up the planet? Huh? The reason we are at this crossroads is really much too complicated to summarize as you did. The twentieth century brought about more advances to the human race and consequently, the World, than all other centuries combined. One of those advances was the internet, and the ability to share knowledge almost instanteously worldwide. Once we know that something is wrong, it should not be viewed as a political issue, but treated it as a moral issue.
America is inherently corrupt. We need to come to grips that our country is guilty of moral crimes against the rest of the world. Once we come to grips with the fact that America is far and away the most corrupt, most environmentally irresponsible nation in the world, we have an obligation to change it. Many ideas that about America are wrong.
Learn everything you can, and support those who have the knowledge to bring about change!
