Somebody try the RawStory link to story of AF general under investigation
and tell me if you get anywhere with it. I keep getting error message. Boy, those Air Force generals have power ;)

7. People pay to go to them. There are usually many vendors too.
Never saw the point of going to air shows. Those jets can't just work over the grandstand ;)

Grew up near naval air stations - Blue Angels for air shows. They are ALL over the sky for days practicing. Worst part is after, when the local throttle jockeys say 'I can do dat' and spend days horsing around in the air trying to pull the same stunts. It gets sorta scary fas as I'm concerned.

Personally, I wouldn't get within 50 miles of an air show with the Thunderbirds.

There are other flight demos at the shows and some of those are cool. Saw some WWI era planes up several times. There are still some WWII planes traveling around to and they are interesting. Love the B-17, it's just a beautiful plane. Hate looking at a B-24 and picturing my dad in the nose of one. No wonder he hated planes.
