No politician will apply his or her fingerprints to an expensive new war in an election year. Not even "Joltin' Joe" Leiberman.

Buxh could try to bypass Congress by claiming they already gave him permission to invade any country he feels is a threat, but compliance from even the Repub side of the aisle will be muted at best. The outrage from the others will be deafening.

That leaves clandestine intervention, which I wouldn't rule out, but it's likely the operation will be exposed before it runs it's course.

Will Americans put up with it lacking a provocation from Tehran?
That's a loaded question indeed.
