"We're Going To Beat His Brains Out"
Was this said by Democratic Senators before the Alito hearings? Nope. This is what a republican lawmaker said about Web Hubbell. I doubt if they were concerned if his wife would cry. All the hell they put this man through, I am surprised he didn't become ill. And it was all for not. Yet, they want to whine and complain about the Democrats because Mrs. Alito started weeping when she heard the truth about her husband.

4. I said it before and I'll say it again. I've been through worse
questioning during job interviews!

I can only assume the Alitos have lived the gravy train and never had to face any contention.

Well, lady, you better get used to it! If your hubby gets the job this time, you're going to hear a hell of a lot more criticizm than you heard today!!!!

9. We need to focus our criticism on what Republicans have said, such

as that statement about Web Hubbell.

We also need to stop criticizing Mrs. Alito for her appearance and/or for her crying. We sound heartless when we make those comments.

Mrs. Grumpy wrote an excellent OP about being a wife and crying when her husband was treated badly. You may disagree that Alito was treated badly (I do), but that doesn't mean that his wife had no right to her reaction. It's normal to feel protective toward one's mate and one's children.

When Harry Truman's only child, Margaret, then a young woman, played a piano recital in Washington, a newspaper music critic was unkind in his comments about Miss Truman's playing. Harry publicly said something to the effect that he'd like to punch the critic's lights out.

14. Thanks.
I believe a lot of folks will believe it's staged, except for the republicans. They wouldn't admit it. Also, as I was watching the hearings today, there was a time during one of the breaks, a lady sitting behind Alito whispered something in her ear and after that he kind of moved his chair over and they laughed. I don't know if she women wanted to be seen or that his wife wasn't seen enough. I saw it on cspan, maybe someone recorded the whole segment.

17. Also: "Conservative, John Cole, is fed up with Republican lies..."
http://www.dailykos.com

"I don't like Kennedy. At all. I think Schumer is a grandstanding fool and a pompous ass. . . . But only the most patently dishonest person on the planet would claim that Mrs. Alito left after a Democratic attack. She left after REPUBLICAN Sen. Lindsey Graham was basically praising Alito, defending him and reciting some of the things that have been said about Alito.

But it was not a withering attack from Democrats which unsettled Mrs. Alito. Not at all.

I am so sick and tired of everyone just lying about every-damned-thing.

27. I agree that her crying jag,
or at least the exploitation of it, is simply another repuke tactic to draw attention away from the crux of the issue. DO NOT ALLOW THEM TO DISTRACT US--LET'S KEEP OUR EYE IN ON THE GOAL. Martha-Ann is nothing but a distraction (as Steph Miller says, just another repuke game of "LOOK OVER HERE!" SG

13. I was surprised
to hear she started crying. I saw a bit of today's show and found her presence profoundly irritating. She was smirking when I saw her and even laughed w/ her daughter when Sen. Kennedy had some difficulty getting one of his questions out. Come on! This isn't rush week for Pete's sake. Why are they all sitting there hour after hour anyway? Don't they have lives? Do you take your family on job interviews? I just hope the Dems don't take her seriously and back down.

18. They also imprisoned the McDougals for not giving false testimony.
And Jim McDougal ended up dead.

http://www.anotherperspective.org/advoc189.html
On a far more somber note, the reason Jim McDougal, the Clinton's Whitewater partner and about the only person Kenneth Starr's $40 million witch hunt has caught in its absurd net, died while in prison was a simple case of gross medical negligence by the prison staff. As a condition of his imprisonment, McDougal was required to submit to random urine tests for illegal drugs (although there was never any indication nor proof that he had ever used them). As he was on the heart medication digitalis and Prozac, both having the unfortunate side effect of an inability to urinate, he could not provide a sample within the arbitrary two hour time limit the prison enforced. Because of his inability to pee on command, McDougal was placed in solitary confinement where all of his medication was taken from him. After strip searching him and doing a full cavity search (if you don't know what that means, don't ask, you don't want to know), he was placed in a cell where he was ignored for more then eleven hours before a guard reported that McDougal wasn't responding when spoken to through the "talk hole" in the cell's door. Only then were medical personnel called who, after an hour, took him out on a stretcher and declared him dead.

In other words, the prison system that Kenneth Starr and his fellow far right radicals so worship murdered a man because he couldn't urinate on command.

Is he married to Susan McDougal who was friends with Clinton and went to jail because she wouldn't tell lies about him? Oh God. Did anything happen to them for allowing an innocent man to die like that? I HATE THIS FREAKIN COUNTRY SOMETIMES!!!!

Does *anything* ever happen to those kinds of sadistic crooks?
It's the gov't that keeps betraying us. I think overall, citizens aren't cruel like that. But I know what you mean.

“When I despair, I remember that all through history the way of truth and love has always won. There have been tyrants and murderers and for a time they seem invincible but in the end, they always fall - think of it, ALWAYS.”
-- Gandhi

*Sigh* ... Waiting for that "fall".
