"I got my impeachin' panties on!"
That was the best sign of a large protest at Oklahoma State University today, where * gave a 15 minute, 15 sentence speech.

The protest group numbered up to 500 and were enthusiastic and energetic, in great spirits. Across the street a "counter protest" sponsored by collegiate repugs never had more that 10 and even the young woman who organized the event and was the official requestor for the permit left by 8:30 AM for shrubs 10AM speech and from about 9 AM to 10:30 only had one person, and he seemed to be short a few straws from a full bale.

Honestly, this is Oklahoma, but it was also OSU a notoriously apathetic campus except when it comes to beer drinking, so probably 60% of the foot traffic showed no interest as they passed between the two protest groups. Of the remainders it was prob 25% loudly anti *, anti war. the remaining 15% were pro *, but the most creative thing they could yell next to "God bless *" was "Get a life." Not very creative.

It was great to see that many come out in this backward state, and surprised most everyone around.

5. Brief Anecdote ...

I am very upset at myself (and my place of employment) for not being able to be there today.

That said, I staged my own little private protest at work, and much to my surprise, I had assistance.

We have a large screen television in our lobby for people to watch while they're waiting. My desk sits near it, and I'm generally in control of what is showing. I had it on a local network channgel for no particular reasons; it was just on, and I wasn't paying attention. Then Shrub's speech started, and I instantly heard that grating voice boring into my brain. I was helping a customer at the time and so didn't want to break our conversation to deal with the television, but geezus that man's voice gets on my nerves. So, at some point, I asked forgiveness to be excused for a few seconds while I turned the television, telling the lady I was helping that I could only stand listening to so much insanity and maintain concentration. As I did I heard a man speak up who was waiting to be helped who said, "Thank you! Gawd I hate that idiot."

And several people in the lobby laughed approvingly, including the woman I was helping.

Naturally some people sneered (this is still Oklahoma) or mumbled something I could tell was an insult either to me or the person who'd made the "idiot" comment, but no one spoke so openly, and before the guy that had said this was helped, I noticed he'd made a quick friend and they were talking openly about how deeply they wanted that man out of the White House.

So, despite my not being able to go to the protest, it was a good day.
