2. Hold the phone...
I wonder if people are starting to leave because they're fed up with the Bush WH.

You know, grew a conscience.

3. It's got to be something scandalous -- consider this
Even people that work at a department store are expected to give a week or two's notice when they quit.

This guy was the Director of the CIA, and resigned without any notice? It has to be *something* about to come out. The only other thing I can think of is some kind of huge internal blowout with the Bush administration, but that doesn't seem like Goss' style. He's been a toady for Bush since day one.

6. It's not a "planned shakeup" if he can't make the same day's meeting.
A resignation effective THIS SECOND with no replacement...he can't even make the rest of the afternoon's meetings....is clearly planned from about this morning.

8. Exactly! So, where's the smoking gun?
Edited on Fri May-05-06 01:49 PM by VolcanoJen
Not rumors... a real smoking gun, proof of Goss' involvement in HookerLimoPokerGate.

I have a feeling it'll emerge before the newsday is over, because this administration is expert at cover-up, and this seems to be one they couldn't even get the CIA Director out of.

7. We're talkin Xtreme scandal - & breaking very soon
This is the top position at an agency critical in the War on Terra! ! ! The fact that they couldn't even wait over the weekend so they could set up an interim or acting director spells P A N I C.

10. Many CIA professionals were apparently unhappy with Goss
It is possible that some internal machinations within the CIA to oust him were about to be made public, or CIA pros were about to expose some crime. Either way, here's hoping it all comes out in the wash.

12. I heard Rumsfeld is due for a promotion. He's gonna teach those CIA
guys how to do the intelligence thing right. Then they can really get down with blowing up some countries before we get all pacifist on em.

15. Of course, Russert is happily spinning for the WH
that they've known about this for weeks. :eyes: Russert says he resigned because they need a new head to follow through on the changes Goss initiated.
