Clark: "appalling disregard for the welfare and safety of our troops"
Edited on Tue Jan-10-06 08:29 PM by Clarkie1
“This study is but the latest example of the Administration’s appalling disregard for the welfare and safety of our troops.

President Bush's rhetoric doesn't match the actions of his Administration, and unnecessary combat fatalities are the result. This is a clear case where Congressional investigation is warranted.

When were the needs for additional protection first expressed? Who knew what and when and why weren't necessary steps taken?

The American people deserve no less than full accountability and assurances that going forward our troops will not face unnecessary risks or danger caused by lack of resources, oversight or commitment from Washington." - Wes Clark

According to an internal government report obtained by the New York Times, “80 percent of the marines who have been killed in Iraq from wounds to the upper body could have survived if they had had extra body armor.” The Times went on to note that, “such armor has been available since 2003,” but the Pentagon declined to supply it to the troops despite “calls from the field for additional protection.”

2. I can't even begin to describe...
..how furious and sick to my stomach this sort of thing makes me. It's obvious that Clark feels the same way.

When will people realize that Bush and Rumsfeld have nothing but contempt for our men and women in uniform?

3. Fix this * problem now!
Thanks, Wes, as always. This is just unbelievable. CORRUPT REPUBLICANS just really don't care about our troops. If they say they do, they're just lying. We can send the FBA and planes to Aruba when a dreunk white girl get's lost, but we can't provide armor that will prevent our men and women from getting killed or maimed.

The blood of every man or woman who dies in Iraq is on the hands of those who couldn't figure out how to properly equip our soldiers. Where are the people demanding action. In the Democratic Party.

My Blood is Boiling.

4. Wes Clark needs to be in the mix somewhere.
President, Vice President, Secretary of State, Secretary of Defense (I believe he'll have been retired long enough by 2009 to take the job), National Security Adviser etc. America truly needs this guy. He knows what it takes to get the military fixed along with a host of other things this fucking Chimp has destroyed.
