Did You Know There Is One Long-Term MIA In Iraq?
Edited on Sat Dec-31-05 11:35 AM by ThomWV
I just ran across this. It is amazing to me that the nation has been in an uproar about a missing US child in Aruba but doesn't seem to give an once of shit about a missing GI in Iraq. From the Press release:

(On Edit- This isn't April of 2005, its April of 2004!)

Pfc. Keith M. Maupin, 20, of Batavia, Ohio, was declared captured on April 16.

On April 9, Maupin and Sgt. Elmer C. Krause, 40, of Greensboro, N.C., were categorized as duty status - whereabouts unknown when individuals using rocket-propelled grenades and small arms fire attacked their convoy. Both soldiers were assigned to the Army Reserve’s 724th Transportation Company, from Bartonville, Ill.

Krause’s status remains unchanged because his whereabouts remain unknown. Efforts continue to obtain the successful and safe return of both individuals.

Questions regarding theater operations can be directed to CENTCOM at (813) 827-5895.

Change-in-status questions can be directed to Shari Lawrence, deputy public affairs officer for the U.S. Army Human Resources Command in Alexandria, Va., at (703) 325-8856.

For the public affairs officer assisting Maupin’s family contact Maj. Willie Harris, 88th Regional Readiness Command, (612) 290-0517.

The full news release, old as it is, can be found here:

Where is the god damned outrage?

1. I thought a video was released of a soldier being shot
and that the consensus was it was Maupin?

2. DOD Must Not Think So
They still list him as missing.

3. There is something really strange about the Maupin situation.
I don't like making political hay over tragedy, but what has happened to him could happen to any of our troops, and the Dem leaders need to start asking questions about this.

It's very bizarre and Maupin's fate has never been properly addressed by the media.

4. They need someone left so they can go back in years from
now when politically convenient.
