1. This rematch talk...
is a bunch of crap. Both teams new what was at stake going into the game. Loser out; Winner in.

2. The teams have no say in who goes to the championship game
It's how the BCS determines the standings. Theoretically, it's supposed to be #1 vs #2; it's clear, though, that the BCS didn't think about the teams being from the same conference. If there is a rematch, at the very least it might make the BCS reconsider how they figure these things.

Suppose it were reversed; Ohio State loses to Michigan by 3 points and drops to #2 after being #1 all season. Should they drop lower? Does this automatically disqualify them because the #1 team is from their conference even if they clearly are the #2 team in the country?

In the NCAA basketball tournament teams from the same conference can and have met each other in the playoff. In 1989 Michigan beat Illinios in the semi-finals, after losing to them in the regular season, beat them and won the national championship. Should that have not happened because Illinois had already beaten Michigan?

The system is crazy. But, if the championship game is supposed to be between #1 and #2 and the BCS system puts two teams from the same conference who have already played each other #1 and #2 what else can you do?
