"Astroturf feminism AKA RadFem"
:wtf:

Does anyone know what the hell the person who said this might have been talking about?

The thread was locked so I can't ask in the thread, and I have absolutely no desire to engage with them via PM... I'm still curious if anyone else has heard this term.

It sounds like a way to demonize feminists as being aligned with the religious right.

And judging from some stuff I've seen on MRA sites, there seems to be a big push to portray feminists as the woman-haters, and the obstructions to progress... and 'sex positive' women (aka those who support the patriarchal status quo with respect to the widespread acceptance of pornography and prostitution) as the 'true' feminists and gender egalitarians.

I have to say, this worries me.

Greatly.

2. Hah ... I was about to say, that's a depressing upside!

I know I raised my girls to think, and I don't let sexist or misogynist things slip by without comment, so they're definitely having that "WTF" reaction.

I hope it's a trend. :)

3. i was really concerned with two nieces, in environment they were in. BUT
i was also a huge influence, the mother for both and care giver. i was still really concerned. one is 18 and one is 22 and they are both seeming to get it. the oldest, i was really really concerned with. had comversation today and she concluded.... father, father to her first child and working on x husband all used adn took advantage of her. asked.... you get it!!! do you get it yet, lol. but she has seen and is progressing over last couple years with daughter and father teaching her to be princess. and a hubby that does porn more than has sex with her.

the youngest.... now she hit 18 she is runnin with it. seeing it in college and all.

BUT

my sons GF got it. and a couple of the girls he knows gets it. adn sense he gets it as much if not more than them, he migrates to this girl. i am THRILLED seeing the younger girls get it. adn younger guys accept nothing less from the girls.
