Oh, wouldn't that be nice. I really didn't think we'd have the votes. I left for my walk just before the vote and when I came back they were talking about health care and my husband told me they didn't get cloture. I was bummed I missed it, but happy it happened -- and extremely shocked. Who did we get from their side besides Voinie -- anyone know?

151. Well, Botany, consider this...
...is Keith what you would call a "stud muffin"?

When you ask yourself this question, look critically at the latest video of him in suspenders, watching the old video of himself with Izzy. No nice, huge-shouldered, buttoned-up jacket to kindly cover the parts of him that have not gotten much of a workout lately.

That's right. The abs and tummy of a stud-muffin, he does not have.

Yet, look at all of us here, drooling like starving alley cats every time we get a bleeding glimpse.

Men. *sigh* You just don't know how much power you have over us.

I used to try (try being the keyword here) to explain to my ex that women were mentally stimulated and men were visually stimulated. He needed to engage my mind (make me think, make me laugh, make me cry tears of joy or empathy) if he wanted to engage with my body.

He is now engaging elsewhere instead. You just can't teach cuddly, you either got it or you don't!

I have done physical work for years too.

I just think Steph was being nice ...... when she called me
cuddly. She is a pro and knows how to keep people happy
and stroke egos.

But the last 11 days has been more than a little weird .....
Keith or somebody on his staff reading "Gull Bay" and then
a "shout out" on countdown
Meeting Steph and some others
"That picture" that is on the bottom of the Thread about Steph.
More than a little embarrassing for both of us.
And a few other things .......

And once again I do see big things for her career .....
and it will be fun to watch and i will always be her friend
and fan.

You will not find a listener who is more intelligent than Botany, or more passionate about saving democracy.

The handsome part you've already seen for yourself, plus the personal warmth factor.

Magic works in favor of those who recognize it.

You go, girl.

I knows a happy-looking gal when I sees one.

So, no matter what, when she says "Buddy", she means it, in a real good way.

And Steph, don't go getting freaked. You know that first and foremost, Botany appreciates your mind. And that's building on rock instead of sand (or alluvial clay, or landfill).

49. Lemme see if I can explain this...
To the Army, it's about orders. And their orders were to bomb the hell out of Falujah... and they did that well.
Now, do I agree with those orders? No. I'm sure generals like McAfferty and Clark, who thought it was a waste to go to war in Iraq, wish we didn't have to bomb anyone in that country - but the military is there and should follow orders to the best of their ability.

Does that make sense?

181. I liked it.
And I like how you incorporated some historical reference to Arab culture and tradition (could have used a bit more prodding to explain to folks that their way isn't "wrong," just "different, though." That makes up for A LOT of international mileage).
It saddens me that our media didn't take what little good there was to come out of 9/11 - such as the great opportunity to educate the American masses on true Islam and/or the great opportunity to take all that good will and turn it into a positive.

And, yeah, military jargon always "cleans up" the truth - it has to. If it didn't, recruitment would be dry as dust.

I lived there for four years (seminary), and racial tensions are - well, tense already. But this is just awful.

I knew one pastor (clergy-couple) who woke up with a cross burning in their front yard - all because he dared to welcome a bi-racial couple into the congregation. He said it was the Klan's signal to him that "we are here, and keeping our eyes on you." :scared:

on edit: that was in Randolph Co - very redneck area. They still have bootleggers operating in a dry county. (I served there for 2 years)

Not that I don't like Carrie, but I thought he was all around better. I really wanted Vonzelle to win. I'm sure all three of them will do well, though.

155. REALLY!
He was dreamy wasn't he? I latched right on to him in the very beginning and even voted a time or two for him. Simon was so brutal to him though. And what a tall drink of water he was!

If I was 16 again, I would want a poster of him on my bedroom wall. (When I was 16, the poster of choice then was Edgar Winter. I thought he was dreamy and talented -- and it freaked my mom out, so it was a double plus!)

I never got used to being a day person, even though now I have to get up at 7:30 to get my kids off to school. I work from home though and teach at night mostly so I can slip in a daytime nap if I'm really desperate and don't have a meeting.

That sounds like fun - arguing the opposite point. We used to do that around the dinner table. Pick a topic, state your opinion, and the rest of us (except mom) would tear it apart. We just find other things to talk about. She and I just had a very enlightened discussion about peak-oil and organic gardening. She is also an artist so we can bond on that, and a musician, so Mr. Bunny can bond on that. We get around it. I just made the mistake of trying to convert her before this past election and that did not work. I under estimated her fanatacism about Israel, which is her entire raison d'etre for supporting the Bushies. She thinks they are pro-Israel and strong on defense. She also thinks she got a tax cut under Shrub and that Clinton is a rapist.
