I lived there for four years (seminary), and racial tensions are - well, tense already. But this is just awful.

I never got used to being a day person, even though now I have to get up at 7:30 to get my kids off to school. We just find other things to talk about. She and I just had a very enlightened discussion about peak-oil and organic gardening. She is also an artist so we can bond on that, and a musician, so Mr. Bunny can bond on that. We get around it. I just made the mistake of trying to convert her before this past election and that did not work. I under estimated her fanatacism about Israel, which is her entire raison d'etre for supporting the Bushies. She thinks they are pro-Israel and strong on defense. She also thinks she got a tax cut under Shrub and that Clinton is a rapist.
